Jessica Simpson’s struggles with her weight have been well documented in the media. She has been famously criticized for gaining weight, as well as being heaped with adulation when in top shape. Most can remember the negative attention she received when she was photographed wearing “mom” jeans, at a concert performance. Simpson stopped by Good Morning America on Tuesday to promote her most recent weight loss after the birth of her two children. Jessica documented how she has lost at least 50 pounds since her first pregnancy, with her daughter, Maxwell.
After her daughter was born, Simpson signed with Weight Watchers to become one of their spokespersons. She had lost at least 50 pounds, but then became pregnant with her son, Ace, now seven months old. She talked to GMA about her struggles:
I was so insecure – I couldn’t even believe what I weighed. I don’t think that I ever expected myself to see the numbers that I have seen on the scale.
Jessica has a message that she hopes to share with other women going through the same struggles that she has experienced with gaining weight – don’t be ashamed:
You are creating a life, and honestly it’s not easy. It is a really hard thing to go through. And you deserve to eat your ice cream, you deserve to have your pancakes. Do whatever you want to do and then afterwards just know that you have to work really hard. I had to learn that with my first and second pregnancy. My first pregnancy I ate a lot more, but my second pregnancy I ate enough, like I ate what I wanted to eat but I stayed active and I think because I had gained so much weight with my first that I had to stay active throughout my second because I didn’t know what to do with myself if I didn’t.
She now gets her motivation to stay on her diet from her fiance, Eric Johnson, a former NFL receiver. Additionally, Simpson reports that she wants to look in top form for her upcoming wedding. No date has yet been announced to the public. She went on to share some of the details of what she now eats on a daily basis.
For breakfast I am an oatmeal girl. Lunch, I do like bread so I will have a sandwich or something. But for dinner I try to keep it super clean.
As for additional motivation, Jessica reports that she hopes to get back to her show biz roots: singing. She’d love for her daughter and fiance to see her on stage, which, to date, they have not. One are Simpson will not be returning to is reality television . She said there was “absolutely no way” that she’d ever do a reality show again! Jessica Simpson has been too busy doing the other job that she loves – being a mother to her two children.
