Jessa Duggar Facebook: God’s Judgment Rant Causes More Duggar Family Controversy

Published on: February 27, 2015 at 12:09 AM

Jessa Duggar went to her Facebook to post on God’s judgment, and the post has caused new controversy for the Duggar family , according to Cosmopolitan . Jessa’s long and detailed post has people talking about her family and their beliefs once again.

During the post, Jessa quotes several Bible passages to prove the points she tries to make with her words. Since she made the post on Wednesday, it has received more than 2,800 likes and almost 900 comments.

Jessa openly shared about her religious beliefs in the lengthy post.

“I will speak to you a hard truth. I do not write this because I think that it will bring me popularity. It won’t. But it is Truth from the Word of God: the Bible. To not tell people this is to hide the truth from them. To keep silent is to not care for their eternal destiny! I care about you, and this is why I am speaking out!

In this world, people have seared their consciences. The standard of what is “ok” or “permissible” in our society today, hardly reflects God’s standard. People are content to live on in lying, cursing, pride, anger, bitterness, disrespecting of parents, lust, pornography, fornication, adultery, and other sexual sins– and if anyone tries to confront them, their attitude and response is, ‘You live your life, I’ll live mine. Don’t you tell me what to do! Only God can judge me!’ They don’t even realize what they’re saying. God’s judgement isn’t something to be taken lightly! It should scare you! Man’s ‘judgement’ is a 1000x lighter… usually just a voicing of disapproval. But when unbelieving, sinful men die and stand before God, He justly condemns them to hell. [sic]”

It is after this opening that Jessa used examples to illustrate her words. By the end of the post, she urged those reading to repent for their sins by reading the Bible.

Jessa’s Facebook past has stirred things up and put a new spotlight on the family. Her post received a mixed reaction in the comments section of her Facebook.

One follower commented with praise for Jessa by saying, “Thank you Jessa. We all who are Christians need to be more courageous to speak the truth not because we want to hurt someone’s feeling but because we love them enough to warn them of their destiny if they stay on the path they are on. God has said that we are an aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. To those who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”

However, another person commented with, “I used to be this girl. I get it. She’s not malicious or judgmental, she’s just being consistent with what she’s been indoctrinated with. I grew up in a cult similar to Quiverfull and you cant change their perspectives until they find out for themselves.”

Other comments fell on both sides, but people that shared her beliefs on God and religion praised Jessa several times.

Jessa and her marriage to Ben Seewald have been the focus of the current season of 19 Kids And Counting . Jessa and Ben have caused their own controversy following their wedding when it was revealed that they did not even wait until their true wedding night to have sex. That happened right after the ceremony.

Jessa and Ben want to have kids right away, and they are even looking at adoption as an option, according to a previous report from the Inquisitr . However, the couple needs to wait until two years into their marriage to adopt a child. This means that if the pair is set on having a child right away, she will need to get pregnant.

Jessa’s rant on Facebook is not the first controversial event faced by the family on the social media site. After Jessa’s wedding in November, her parents, Michelle and Jim Bob , praised their daughter and her new husband for waiting until after their wedding to share their first kiss. To celebrate the pair, her parents shared a photo of them kissing and asked other couples to do the same.

However, the family did not expect that many same-sex couples would join in on the celebration. When this happened, those photos were deleted and the users banned, according to People Magazine . The family’s anti-gay beliefs caused the filing of a petition asking TLC to cancel the popular reality series.

Jim Bob Duggar did speak out about the petition back in December, and he said that the petition “won’t succeed” in getting 19 Kids And Counting canceled, according to the Huffington Post .

Jessa’s Facebook post is not the only one by a member of the family causing controversy this month either. According to E! Online , Anna Duggar stirred up controversy with an anti-abortion post on her Twitter account that used Black History Month to support its point.

The Duggar family is a family that is vocal about their beliefs, and this vocal nature has put a spotlight on them. It likely will continue to do so for the near future. The family receives both praise and cause anger with their words. That much is obvious by the reaction to Jessa’s latest Facebook rant.
