Jennifer Lopez is known for being very open and fluid about her love life, so when she made her return to Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live , she was ready to talk about her exes once again.
Host Andy Cohen and Lopez have a natural rapport that we’ve seen previously on the show, and that didn’t change when she returned to promote her new thriller, The Boy Next Door .
Now that she’s single, after splitting from Casper Smart , she revealed that her criteria of what she looks for has changed over the years.
“Maybe what I liked when I was younger wasn’t as good for me, but now I have different criteria. As far as type-wise, like look and everything, I’m not a looks person. I don’t know if you noticed over the years?”
So what about exes Ben Affleck and Sean “Diddy” Combs?
“I thought they were all hot. Other people might be like, ‘What the hell is she thinking?’ But I don’t care.”
The American Idol judge also spoke about how her exes get along. When Lopez was dating Casper Smart, who was 18 years younger than the singer, she said he got along fine with her ex husband, Marc Anthony. The two had to keep a casual relationship with each other because he’s the father of Jennifer’s twins, Max and Emme.
“There was just an understanding,” she explained. At the time, “Anthony was already dating someone else. His concern was how he was getting along with the kids. It was find. They actually have each other’s numbers now.”
Recently, Lopez opened up to People Magazine about the difficult break up from Anthony, and being alone for the first time.
“It was awful. But I had to make a commitment to myself to be alone: no flirting. No possibility of anything. No boys in any way, shape or form. I said, ‘I’m shutting it down.’ I’d never been alone.”
She continued, “It was very eye-opening to me to spend time completely by myself. I was terrified of being alone: The idea that we are alone in this world, we were born alone, we die alone—it sent panic through my body. I said, ‘I have to face this fear,’ and I did.”
That said, Lopez still believes in her happily ever after.
“I believe in marriage. I believe that two people can commit to each other and share a life together.” She is also thankful for her kids, who “make you believe in all kinds of things, like how anything is possible.”
