Jay Z’s Tidal Streaming Service Backed By Music’s Hottest Artists, Rihanna, Kanye Albums On The Way?

All of the hottest names in music are getting behind Jay Z and his new streaming service Tidal.

As the Inquisitr reported, Jay Z’s company Project Panther Bidco acquired the streaming service from Aspiro. Jay Z’s company bought Tidal for $464 million in an effort to back artists for their work while giving fans the streaming service they want. Tidal is in direct competition with Spotify.

In a statement, Jay Z said of the service: “Panther believes that the recent developments in the entertainment industry, with the migration to music and media streaming, offers great potential for increased entertainment consumption and an opportunity for artists to further promote their music.”

Right before the Grammys, Jay Z called a meeting and met with some of the most prominent artists in top 40 today to discuss their support of Tidal and what Tidal will be able to do for them as artists. At the time, names like Kanye West, Rihanna, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and Daft Punk were some of the artists that were rumored to be behind Jay Z’s new streaming service.

It’s rumored that we may even get new albums from Kanye West and Rihanna that will be released to the streaming service exclusively before anyone else. It’s not too far fetched as Rihanna is supposed to be dropping R8 any day now, and Kanye has been teasing an album for 2015. If this happens it will be historical and will put Tidal on the map in a huge way.

While we don’t have confirmation that Kanye or Rihanna will be dropping new material on Tidal, we do have confirmation that the artists mentioned in Jay Z’s pre-grammy meeting have backed the company on social media. According to NME , artists like Kanye West, Beyonce, Jack White, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj have changed their user pictures to a light blue color block, which plays on the Tidal name. This is in an effort to get the word out when the company launches in New York at 5 p.m.
