Sometimes you simply can’t keep a good man down. Slash Film reports that Jackie Chan, who claimed he was bidding farewell to the world of stunt-heavy cinema, is rumored to be putting together Police Story 2013 . The film would be the newest installment in his beloved Police Story franchise, which hasn’t enjoyed a new entry since 2004.
Around the time that Chan’s Chinese Zodiac started generating a hefty amount of buzz, the popular big screen action hero declared that the upcoming motion picture would be his last dance with death-defying stunts. Since Chan isn’t getting any younger, he decided it was time to slow things down a bit and focus on more dramatic roles. Given how stunt-oriented the Police Story movies are, it would appear that Chan has a few more surprises in store for his legion of fans.
According to Twitch , the China Vision Media Group announced at a recent press conference in Beijing that Jackie Chan would re-team with Ding Sheng, the man who directed the Rumble in the Bronx star in the 2010 period action flick Little Big Soldier . Sheng’s dramatic actioner is easily one of Chan’s best films in several years, which makes Police Story 2013 a cause for excitement.
Chan’s most recent effort, Chinese Zodiac , is currently slated for release in China this December. The picture, which is the latest installment in the prolific actor’s Armour of God series, was rumored to be one of Chan’s final attempts at stunt-centric cinema. The latest trailer for the movie finds its star donning a “rollerblade suit,” which he uses in a number of impressive sequences.
Stateside, Hit Flix claims that Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are currently working on Rush Hour 4 with producer Arthur Sarkissian. “It’s not a matter of just bringing them back to do another segment of that or a sequel to it by putting them in another city and having them bicker. I don’t want that. I want something new,” Sarkissian explained. “We haven’t decided [on a screenwriter] yet, but I’m very close to making a decision. I have about four or five names that we’re roaming on right now.”
Are you a fan of Jackie Chan’s movies? What do you think about the possibility of another Police Story movie?
