An Islamic village in Texas is reportedly a “jihadist enclave” and was investigated for possible links to terrorism by the FBI. Ryan Mauro, the journalist who broke the national security story, discussed the information released in FBI declassified during a Fox News interview this morning.
According to Mauro’s research, the Texas Islamic village is operated by the Muslims of the Americas group. The organization has reportedly been linked to Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a radical militant group in Pakistan. Group members are allegedly followers of Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani, an allegedly extremist Pakistani cleric.
Excerpt from the Clarion Project report on Islamic villages in the United States:
“The organization says it has a network of 22 ‘villages’ around the U.S., with Islamberg as its main headquarters in New York. The Clarion Project obtained secret MOA footage showing female members receiving paramilitary training at Islamberg. It was featured on the Kelly File on FOX News Channel in October. A second MOA tape released by Clarion shows its spokesman declaring the U.S. to be a Muslim-majority country.
A 2007 FBI record states that MOA members have been involved in at least 10 murders, one disappearance, three firebombings, one attempted firebombing, two explosive bombings and one attempted bombing.”
The investigative report goes on to state that the members of the Islamic villages have “propensity for violence” and pursue a policy of jihad against enemies of Islam, including the United States. Memers are also reportedly urged to travel to Pakistan in order to receive military or terrorist and religious training from Sheikh Gilani.
The Muslims of the Americas group possesses an “infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns” both in the United States and abroad, according to the Clarion Project report. Additional FBI reports about the Islamic villages in America said, “Investigation of the Muslims of the Americas is based on specific and articulate facts giving justification to believe they are engaged in international terrorism.”
Muslims of the Americas members allegedly feel that the “holiest Islamic site” in the United States is located at an “Islamville commune” in South Carolina. Other entities reportedly under the umbrella of the MOA group include the United Muslim Christian Forum, International Quranic Open University, Islamic Post, American Muslim Medical Relief Team, and the Muslim Veterans of America.
Ray Mauro also noted that Texans living near the Islamic village believe the camp as created during the later 1980s.
Mauro also had this to say about MOA communities in the United States:
“They are still preaching jihad. They still follow this radical Pakistani cleric that they basically believe is God. And they are a dangerous group and you can see it in the language of the FBI documents that we’ve released. The reason they’re able to operate in the United States is because the State Department doesn’t consider this group, Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a foreign terrorist organization.”
