Indiana Jones 5 will not have Bradley Cooper donning the fedora and whip, according to Lucasfilm. The chances are that Harrison Ford will retain his starring role in a proper passing of the torch.
It is true that the star who plays the adventurous archaeologist is getting, in the words of the famous Lethal Weapon star, “too old for this sh**.” That doesn’t mean he’s ready to give up the role. It was recently rumored here on The Inquisitr that Ford will only return as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars 7 if he gets to be Indiana Jones once more. Neither role is confirmed yet, but Harrison Ford wants to be confirmed for the starring role of Indy as soon as a script and everything is in place. If the previous rumor is true, we could be waiting for the return of the original Han Solo until Ford’s other iconic role is confirmed.
Considering the critical failure of Crystal Skull in the eyes of fans everywhere, the idea of Harrison Ford playing the role again in Indiana Jones 5 is something a lot of fans probably don’t want to see. Most people wish Indy’s refrigerator stunt had gone more realistically (he should have died), considering the success of the film.
Being paired with the showboating Shia LaBeouf didn’t help. By the end of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen , we were tired of the energetic Hollywood newcomer.
The idea of Bradley Cooper being cast in the title role for Indiana Jones 5 has been met with some trepidation and some curiosity. He might look the role, but classic Indy fans have stated that we don’t need a reboot or a James Bond style recasting. George Lucas has even stated that Ford “is Indiana Jones,” but after stepping down, his statement could be invalid.
Disney is allegedly set on a reboot to the franchise ever since their acquisition in December, though Harrison Ford might be more interested in seeing himself pass the torch to a sidekick or possibly his character’s son.
The whole movie seems mired in a tug of war between a proper sendoff of Ford’s role and a reboot.
Due to the ridiculous rumors that keep popping up, like agents pipe dreams, I will stop commenting on our projects until I have real news.

With the rumors swirling about Bradley Cooper replacing Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 or even a reboot, Lucasfilm decided to take to Twitter and drop the gavel on it. Producer Frank Marshall (the man behind the first four films) told us in a roundabout fashion that the Hangover star will not be replacing our favorite Blade Runner , and jokingly added, “I can only confirm that Katy Perry will NOT be the new Indiana Jones.”
One movie news site has stated:
“There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100 percent prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy.”
The rumors of Bradley Cooper being the new Indy are officially false. Who do you think should replace Harrison Ford if Disney reboots the franchise?
