President Obama is asking American taxpayers via Congress to pony-up $3.7 billion to address the illegal immigration problem along the Texas border. Governor Rick Perry says he has been sending letters to the Obama administration since 2010 to get help securing the border to stop the massive influx of illegal aliens, but the missives have gone unanswered.
Perry supporters largely feel that if the federal government had spent some money actually securing the Mexican border, national security would not be at risk, and the big price tag being placed upon the problem now would not be unnecessary.
Legal changes necessary to speed up the deportation process for illegal immigrant children were not requested by the Obama administration, just a request for funds from a Democrat-controlled Senate which has not passed a budget during his entire tenure in office.
The nearly $4 billion of taxpayer money, if approved by Congress, would be spent to provide medical care, food, housing, utilities, immigration judges, legal aid, the construction of additional housing units, transportation, and some border surveillance and enforcement projects.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, illegal immigrants found along the South Texas border have been bussed and flown to other locations to be processed and ultimately released on their own recognizance until deportation hearings are scheduled sometime in the future.
A White House statement related to the $3.7 billion illegal immigration aid package said, “Supplemental resources are urgently needed” to combat the problem. White House staffers contend that President Obama did not intend or envision his amnesty policies to create such a massive influx of illegal immigrants.
A Washington Examiner report about federal government contract bids appears to indicate the Obama administration did know just such an illegal immigration issue was about to evolve. On January 29, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed a notice requesting staff and resources for a scenario that mirrors the illegal immigration surge currently underway in Texas.
An excerpt from the ICE bid notice reads:
“The contractor shall provide unarmed escort staff, including management, supervision, manpower, training, certifications, licenses, drug testing, equipment, and supplies necessary to provide on-demand escort services for non-criminal/non-delinquent unaccompanied alien children ages infant to 17 years of age, seven (7) days a week, 365 days a year for approximately 65,000 such children.”
What do you think about the Obama administration’s big money request to Congress to deal with the illegal immigration surge ?
