A Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer (embedded below!) made its worldwide debut during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.

The 2 minute 26 second teaser deliberately holds back on revealing anything from the second half of Suzanne Collins’ book, a similar tactic to trailers for the first film.

Still, we get a good look at some new arrivals, most notably the excellent Philip Seymour Hoffman, who joins the series as Plutarch Heavensbee.

Other new characters to be introduced will include Finnick (played by Sam Claflin) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). They’ll join characters from the first film including Katniss, Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth).

Also of note: This second Hunger Games film is the first directed by Francis Lawrence ( Constantine , I Am Legend ). Lawrence has committed to finishing the series.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire follows on from the first Hunger Games film, released last year. The story of the series takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where certain boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 must participate in the titular “Hunger Games,” a televised annual event in which the “tributes” are required to fight to the death until there is one remaining victor.

When the film was released, it set records for opening day ($67.3 million) and opening weekend box office takings for a non-sequel.

But enough waffling from me. Here’s the Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer:
