Critically and commercially acclaimed Irish singer Hozier, who recently made more headlines covering Pink Floyd , has been nominated for several Ivor Novella Awards. You can see the full list of Ivor Novella Award nominations below. Other nominees across the six categories include Alt-J, Bombay Bicycle Club, George Ezra, Royal Blood, Sam Smith, FKA Twigs, and Wild Beasts.
Hozier is nominated in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category for “Take Me to Church”. His competition for the award is “Above the Clouds of Pompeii” by London folk band Bear Den and Ben Howard’s “I Forget Where We Were”. The awards are a little more prestigious than others as they are judged and presented by the songwriting community, rather than influenced by labels or publishing companies. “Take Me to Church” is up for ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’, alongside tunes by Bear’s Den and Ben Howard.
Do you think Hozier deserves to nominated for an Ivor Novella Award, or do you think somebody else should have been nominated in his place?
