Kim Kardashian’s massive diamond ring was one of the pieces stolen from her Paris apartment during an early morning robbery on Monday and believed to have been one of the things targeted by the assailants.
Since the robbery took place, some figures have been given regarding how much the ring is worth. While some say the piece cost a whopping $4 million, others claim Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West, dropped $4.5 or even $4.9 million on the extravagant gift.
As E! News revealed on October 3, Kim Kardashian’s 20-carat emerald diamond ring was designed by Lorraine Scwartz, the same woman who created her engagement ring years ago, and included the rarest and most valuable type of diamond. Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian’s 15-carat engagement ring was valued in the $2.5 to $3 million range.

In addition to the nearly $5 million diamond ring being stolen during the robbery earlier this week, there were several other unidentified pieces taken as well, which total $11 million. Luckily, Kim Kardashian wasn’t physically harmed during the ordeal.
“All of us at E! are incredibly thankful that Kim Kardashian West is safe, and we send her and her family our love and support,” read an official statement from the E! Network on Monday. “ Keeping Up with the Kardashians was not filming at the time of the robbery. Our focus right now is entirely on Kim’s well-being.”
Before the robbery took place, Kim Kardashian and her family, including Kendall Jenner and Kourtney Kardashian, had attended some fashion week events. Kim Kardashian had also been flashing her diamond ring around town and on social media, which some believe made her an easy target.
During the robbery, Kim Kardashian was in her room with a friend, Simone Harouche, downstairs. Meanwhile, her bodyguard was out with her sisters, Kendall and Kourtney.

Currently, the investigation into who was involved in the robbery is ongoing, but so far, there doesn’t appear to be any solid evidence. While numerous rumors have hit the web regarding who may have robbed Kim Kardashian, no photos of the assailants were taken and no surveillance tapes were available. As for Kardashian, she will likely be unable to be of much assistance because her robbers were all wearing masks.
As prosecutors continue their manhunt in hopes of ultimately finding Kim Kardashian’s stolen items, it’s hard to think that the jewelry will ever be returned — especially considering the pieces could all be sold on the black market.
According to a report earlier this week, Kim Kardashian’s pricey ring will likely go for much less than West spent on it, but even so, her robbers could make quite a lot of money if they can find a buyer — or buyers.
“They will probably get about ten cents on the dollar from a fence since breaking it into smaller stones loses a lot of value,” diamond expert Scott Selby explained to Hollywood Life on October 4. “Depending on how they cut and polish it, it might be worth about a third of its value as a whole stone.”
As Selby explained, the robbers may break Kim Kardashian’s diamond into smaller pieces to make the diamonds less traceable.
“They can take apart the ring and sell the precious metals and the smaller stones, but the hard part is selling the giant stone,” he continued. “It’s possible, but difficult, to find a buyer who is willing to take a diamond like that and hide it away.”
