A Hillary Clinton campaign operative allegedly used a satirical picture of GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump in his smartphone to primarily register Hispanic voters in Las Vegas.
The phone pic in question supposedly shows a stern Trump along with the derisive caption “this is my resting b***h face.”
This incident emerged after muckraking journalist/conservative activist James O’Keefe and his Project Veritas Action crew released another hidden camera video targeting the Democrat presidential candidate’s field organization in the state of Nevada.
It’s illegal in that state to co-mingle voter registration activities with partisan electioneering; violators could be charged with a felony.
A previous Project Veritas video uploaded earlier this month seemingly depicted similar improper voter registration combined with simultaneously promoting Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy, with one campaign official advising workers to “Do whatever you can. Whatever you can get away with, just do it.” Other campaign staffers in that video seemed to be following a dubious guideline in their voter registration activities summarized as “ask for forgiveness, not for permission.” The video has prompted an investigation by the Nevada Secretary of State’s office.
In this newest video which perhaps may prompt more formal complaints, the purported Clinton campaign canvasser with the so-called Donald Trump “b***h face” on his phone can be heard boasting to a colleague that “Come here, come here. There’s like hundreds and hundreds of people, and I just flash a picture of Donald Trump on my phone and they all sign up.”
A previous O’Keefe/Project Veritas undercover video suggested that Clinton campaign staff in Iowa discourage registering individuals who don’t support Hillary Clinton for president to vote.
According to the Daily Mail in reporting on this footage, “James O’Keefe, the swashbuckling right-winger known for exposing the sale of ‘Obamaphones’ in Cleveland and bringing down the liberal organizing group ACORN with a prostitution sting, told Daily Mail.com that his organization is engaged in a full-court Clinton press. ‘Our investigation of Hillary’s campaign has just begun.’”
As famously bantered about during the first GOP debate on Fox News in August, Hillary Clinton attended Donald Trump’s wedding to current wife Melania Knauss-Trump in 2005 in Palm Beach, Florida. The two current presidential rivals may have been friends at one time, although Trump insisted in the debate that as a businessman with wide-ranging interests, his job was to “buy” influence with politicians.
On Morning Joe, Donald Trump had this reactionto Hillary Clinton’s accusation that he is a demagogue who is stoking prejudice.
“I mean, she use to call me a genius. I’ve come a long way down, I guess. She was always very nice and everything, but I guess it’s a different world today. She’s got problems. And I would always be nice because I was a business man and a very successful person, and I was nice to everybody regardless. That was my job to be nice to everybody; I didn’t want to insult people. Now, I’m in a different position, and we have to tell the facts the way the facts are. So I’m a little surprised at her tone, but that’s okay. She’s been surprised at my tone also.”
Commenting on the Donald Trump “b***h face” photo in the undercover video, James O’Keefe claimed that “Almost everyone [the bilingual Clinton operative] was showing it to were potential Hispanic voters; clearly the theory by the Clinton campaign is to scare Hispanic voters into supporting Hillary by illegally showing them a nasty meme of Donald Trump.”
Watch the video below and draw your own conclusions as to whether it appears any election lawbreaking was involved.
Recent opinion polls suggest that just like other demographic groups in the U.S., the Hispanic community is not monolithic in terms of its public policy views, however.
O’Keefe also claims that members of his team of undercover journalists are secretly embedded in the Hillary Clinton campaign and irreverently concludes that Hillary should check her email.
As alluded to above, although the controversial O’Keefe has plenty of detractors for his particular brand of journalism, his Project Veritas team, which mostly specializes in undercover videos, has done its share of investigative reporting into corrupt or fraudulent government practices, work which seems to be generally falling out of favor in the mainstream or legacy media. News-gathering organizations used to regularly employ techniques such as hidden camera research in their reportage.
The Hillary Clinton campaign has yet to issue a formal statement about this newest clip involving the Donald Trump meme.
