Hillary Clinton is the Democratic Party nominee if she chooses to run. Write it down. Republicans would be wise to start devising their strategy to deal with a Hillary Clinton nominee in 2016. She doesn’t have a once-in-a-lifetime-chance opponent like she did in 2008 in Barack Obama. Nobody on the Democratic Party horizon is even close. She hasn’t lost significantly in popularity among Democrats despite the fact that her tenure as a Senator was uneventful and her time as Secretary of State was disastrous. If Democratic voters are willing to stick their heads in the sand with Benghazi , they’ll look the other way on anything.
Hillary will run away with the Democratic Party nomination – and, let’s face it, it isn’t likely that she’ll take a pass on a chance to become the first female President of the United States. There’s no way a Clintonesque ego is ever going to let that roll by. So, yeah. Hillary “ Minor Leagues ” Clinton, it is. Who else are the Democrats going to nominate? Joe Biden? Please. The Democrats aren’t stupid. They know that nominating Crazy Uncle Joe would be every Republican strategist’s dream. Write it down -Clinton’s the one to beat in 2016 – and start getting ready if you want to have any chance against Hillary in 2016, Republicans.
So, the Repblicans need to find a way to beat Hillary. If they can do it, we have a chance to run the table. Gaining more ground in the House in 2014 is practically a foregone conclusion, and it’s entirely likely the GOP take the Senate outright. Even if they don’t, they’ll gain ground. Here’s the thing: Clinton is beatable, but if the GOP wants to do it, there are some things they need to keep in mind.
First, Republicans need to realize that the mainstream media are carrying Hillary’s water. They are not, nor will they be on your side. Don’t pander to them. They are the Democratic Party’s lap dogs. Don’t believe it? Check out this article in the New York Times , in which the writer practically runs interference for Hillary on the Benghazi situation, already going back to the silly rhetoric that suggests the attacks were inspired by a video on the Internet – as if that somehow makes it OK that the President and Secretary of State of the United States collectively did a grand total of zero to protect the American lives that were lost despite the fact that it was within their power to do so. Hillary thinks that those Americans’ lives were Micky Mouse – or as she succinctly put it, “Minor League” – issues. The media will run with that narrative. Don’t let them. Make sure that every single American knows the names of these four men come November 2016:
Make sure every American knows these names. And when Hillary “Minor Leagues” Clinton asks, “What difference does it make?” or tries to play off any critique of her failure to make hard choices, tell them exactly what difference it makes. Make sure every American associates these names with Hillary Rodham Clinton, the Secretary of State who both did nothing to intervene to even try to protect them and who then had the gall to call congressional questions about her apparent inability to make hard decisions “Minor League ball.” Furthermore, take the gloves off and make sure every American has this image firmly embedded in their minds:
Next, understand that the mainstream media is going to try to give you advice about the type of candidate you should be looking for to run against Hillary in 2016. That’s kind of like the coach of other team suggesting what type of pitch you should throw to his favorite slugger. Listening to the media about who you should nominate would be the worst sort of minor league ball. That’s what gave you McCain. And Romney. And Dole. All weak, safe media darlings in the primaries.
The media will always suggest that you run a moderate. You will note that they don’t make the same suggestion to Democrats. Here’s the thing: the candidate closer to the center does not usually win national elections. It doesn’t happen. Think about it. When was the last person who ran as a legitimate centrist and won? When was the last time the candidate closer to center has won? The only election in the last four decades in which you could even argue the more centrist candidate won was 1988 – and even then (no disrespect intended to George H.W. Bush) people were arguably voting for four more years of Reagan.
It has been well said that insanity is continuing to do the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result. Let me promise you this. If you nominate another moderate, the same media that was frothing at the mouth to suggest him as the nominee will paint him in the exact same light they would a Tea Party or Conservative Republican candidate. Write it down. It will happen.
So, stop trying to get the media to like you. It’s wasted effort. Even more importantly, Republicans, don’t let the progressives in the media make suggestions to you during the primary season. If you do, Hillary Clinton will hand your middle of the road candidates hind end to you. Just like the last two.
In case I haven’t spelled it out clearly enough, here it is: Don’t nominate Christie. Or Romney. Or any other moderate that flies toward the moderate-touting media bug-zapper, not realizing that he is committing hare kara with the Republican Party’s chances in 2016.
Pick a conservative. Any conservative.
In short, nominate someone your party is going to be excited about. Don’t worry about what the LGBTQ lobby thinks about him (or her). They aren’t voting for you anyway, they are punching the ticket for Hillary anyway. Don’t worry about what the Pro-Abortion lobby thinks about him or her. They are already in Clinton’s pocket. Don’t worry about what the unions think about your candidate. They’re voting for Hillary anyway. Excite your base. The people in the middle are in the middle for a reason – they don’t have strong convictions. It’s not like they are out there en masse carrying signs demanding a middle of the road candidate or approach and it’s not like they’ll show up in droves to vote for a middle of the road candidate. Been there, tried that. Doesn’t work.If you don’t want Hillary to win in 2016, don’t keep making that same stupid mistake.
Nominate a conservative. Someone the Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, pro-Israel, pro-national defense, pro-business, pro -traditional values people who vote Republican will show up for and then make your case to the people in the middle. If you don’t nominate a conservative, nothing else matters. There is not a strategy that will elect a moderate over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Finally – and most importantly – rip a page out of the Democrat’s playbook. No matter who the Democrats nominate, make every single thing Barack Obama did or didn’t do stick to them. Barack Obama is at an all time low in popularity. Make people understand that Hillary in 2016 is four more years of Obama – and probably worse because she isn’t as politically clueless and might be able to get people in the middle to go along with her progressive, destructive agenda.
Hillary will try to remind voters of the Bill Clinton years, when the nation prospered in the wake of 12 years of sound government in the ’80s and early ’90s. Don’t let her do that. When she tries, redirect them to the Obama years. Acknowledge that the last year and a half of W.’s presidency was rough, and then shout from the rooftops how much rougher the next (by then) eight years have been. Show them gas prices and unemployment rates and give them an old fashioned Ronald Reagan-style, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?”
Write it down. That, Republicans, is how you can beat Hillary Clinton in 2016.
