British actor Henry Cavill plays “Superman” in “Man of Steel, the new adaptation of the popular comic book. Recently Cavill sat down to talk about his new role. Superman is directed by Zack Snyder and based on everything that has been published so far, it will be nothing short of spectacular.
There have been many television and big screen versions of the superhero adventures, but this one promises to have some never before scenes that will make this particular Superman a memorable one.
But who is Henry Cavill? He is best known for portraying the best friend of King Henry VIII, Charles Brandon, the First Duke of Suffolk in Showtime’s long running miniseries “The Tudors.” And of course you can see by his looks that he is very popular with the ladies and has a loyal following who call themselves the “Cavillry”.
To prepare for the role Cavill underwent and excruciating exercise and dietary regimen and according to co-star Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane, got up before anyone else, every day, to do his workout before shooting began. She has characterized him as extremely dedicated.
Cavill has been making the rounds promoting the film and recently sat down with AOL Celebrity Wire to talk about his character and what we will be seeing on the big screen.
He says that this new Superman is your typical well-mannered farm boy, brought up by two loving parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. Obviously, he is anything but typical and when he discovers who he truly is there is a great sense of loss. But he keeps coming back to his Earth parents.
Cavill states that Costner and Lane, played their roles so well that it was easy for him to feed off of that aspect. He particularly discusses how Diane Lane shows her fear of what her young son is capable off, but that when he is a grown man she is comfortable with the person he has become.
Regarding his revamped costume he states, “I love it” and that it brings a “testosterone energy” that is required to play this role and make it “bigger and better” than any other one you have seen in the past. You think?
Will you be heading out to watch “Man of Steel” with Henry Cavill as Superman when it hits theaters on June 14?
