If it isn’t already apparent to most that the real goal of the Palestinian leadership, be that the terrorists of Hamas or the militants from Abbas’s Fatah party, is to annihilate Israel and replace it with a fundamentalist Islamist regime, Hamas’ founder Mahmoud Al-Zahar, spelled it out for the Jewish State in no uncertain terms.
In a speech translated by Palestinian Media Watch (PWM), Zahar said to Al-Ayyam on October 1 that the intention of Hamas, behind all the empty words at the negotiating table, is to build an ISIS-like Caliphate to replace Israel in “Palestine.” “[Some] have said Hamas wants to create an Islamic emirate in Gaza. We won’t do that, but we will build an Islamic state in Palestine, all of Palestine,” he said.
The issue with Hamas’ takeover of Israel is the fact that they are based in the Gaza Strip, which practically speaking means they pose little to no real threat to the existence of Israel or to the best army in the world, the Israeli Defense Forces.
In his interview, Zahar soon got all biblical as Islamist radicals always do and spoke about “the final promise” (similar in essence to the “final solution”), which he said could feasibly be waged from the West Bank, which is currently under the control of the Palestinian Authority.
Zahar said that if Hamas had a foothold in the West Bank, they could destroy Israel, saying, “Al-Zahar said that if his movement [Hamas] were to ‘transfer what it has or just a small part of it to the West Bank, we would be able to settle the battle of the final promise with a speed that no one can imagine.’”
PWM revealed that the allusion to the “final promise” relates to a Quranic verse from Surah 17:7 which talks about the destruction of Jerusalem, i.e. the Jewish people. That Surah states, “Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies]… to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.’”
Thankfully for Israel, Hamas aren’t in the West Bank in any significant numbers , and even if they were, they simply don’t have the resources to really threaten the mighty Jewish State but that isn’t to say that the will isn’t there. Making matters even more dangerous for Israel, a recent poll of Arabs living in the West Bank found that 61 percent would prefer to have Hamas running the West Bank instead of the Palestinian Authority.
And as the old adage goes, “Where there’s a will there’s a way.”
