Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton attended the Radio Disney Music Awards together on Saturday night, and they weren’t the only coaches from The Voice in the House of Mouse. Pharrell Williams presented Gwen with the Radio Disney Hero Award, and he couldn’t resist giving Shefani a shoutout while gushing about Gwen’s good works.
According to Us Weekly , Pharrell mentioned Blake during his award presentation speech. The “Happy” singer commended Gwen for her kindness and generosity, and he said that he knows Blake is also a big fan of Gwen’s big heart.
“I’m proud to be here tonight to present the 2016 RD Hero Award to not only someone I work with, recorded with, who I know, and what my brother, Blake Shelton, knows, truly has a heart of gold,” Pharrell said.
As The Inquisitr previously reported, Blake Shelton didn’t walk the Radio Disney Music Awards red carpet with Gwen Stefani. Instead, Gwen posed for pictures with her 6-year-old niece Stella outside the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Blake did sit next to Gwen during the event, and it looks like the lovebirds are still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship—Gwen wouldn’t let go of her boyfriend’s hand while posing for photos with fans. Gwen hugged Blake and leaned in for a quick kiss on the cheek before taking the stage to accept her award. In the video below, you can see Blake’s good friend RaeLynn cheering Gwen on in the background.

Gwen Stefani earned the Radio Disney Hero Award by walking the walk, not just talking the talk. As Entertainment Tonight reports, Radio Disney decided that Stefani deserves recognition for being a positive role model for her millions of fans, some of whom have loved her for over two decades. During her acceptance speech, the “Used to Love You” singer thanked her fans for all their support.
“It is crazy this is happening to me. I never thought I’d make a difference,” Gwen said, according to Yahoo! News .
“I’m so blessed to make music and share it with you and to receive your love back.”
During her acceptance speech, Gwen Stefani also talked about growing up in Anaheim right next to Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth. However, life certainly hasn’t been a Disney fairy tale for the Tragic Kingdom’s pop princess. Gwen thought she’d finally found her happily ever after with fellow musician Gavin Rossdale, but she made the devastating decision to end their 13-year marriage last year. Gwen allegedly discovered that her husband had been cheating on her with one of their children’s nannies. According to Us Weekly , Gavin carried on his affair with the nanny for three years before Gwen discovered what her husband was doing behind her back.
Gwen eventually managed to pull a Beyonce by turning lemons to lemonade—she channeled her heartbreak into the new music that she was working on. She and coworker Blake Shelton also happened to be going through their divorces at the same time, and they turned their shared misery into one of Hollywood’s most-talked-about celebrity romances. Because of the way things turned out for her, Gwen can now say that she’s grateful for one of the most painful experiences of her life.
“I have gone through a lot,” Gwen said during an interview on Good Morning America , as reported by ABC News .
“But I feel like, that is, you have to be grateful for that. Because if I didn’t do that, then I wouldn’t have this. And so you have to be grateful for all of it.”
Ever since “Don’t Speak” hit the airwaves over two decades ago, Gwen Stefani has been known for her heart-wrenching breakup songs that the brokenhearted love singing along to. However, Gwen’s new album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like , is loaded with lighthearted tunes about her blossoming love with Blake Shelton, including the single “Make Me Like You.” Perhaps Gwen also deserves another Hero Award for producing an album that gives the brokenhearted so much hope.
Speaking of “Make Me Like You,” Gwen Stefani treated fans to a surprise live performance of the song at the Radio Disney Music Awards. You can check it out when the show airs tonight at 7 p.m. ET on the Disney Channel.
