While many gamers are currently waiting for the launch of online co-op heist missions to finally release in Grand Theft Auto V , another group of fans are more patiently hoping for news regarding the first single-player DLC for GTA V . According to a report by VG 24/7 late last week, work on a new story-based add-on for the main campaign of GTA V is currently underway.
Speaking about his performance, Shawn Fonteno has confirmed to Jack Thriller that he is now busy reprising his role of GTA V ‘s Franklin to record additional lines for an upcoming DLC release for the open-world crime title.
Launching over a year ago on last-gen consoles, Grand Theft Auto V fans have not seen any additional story content for the game’s single-player campaign in that time. Rockstar Games has instead focused on pumping out free content updates for the online multiplayer mode of GTA V as well releasing a seemingly endless line of GTA Online patches in an effort to hope for constant improvement of the game’s stability.
Rockstar Games has also been preoccupied with the launch of online heists since the co-op robberies of GTA V were delayed earlier this spring. Prior to the initial release of Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, the developer announced that they were working on both online heists as well as additional single-player content. As such, fans have anxiously awaited their chance to play both.
The developer recently confirmed that online heists would become available in early 2015, but Rockstar Games has not recently shared details regarding a GTA V single-player campaign add-on. Fonteno’s reveal that he is now working on voice work for the DLC is the first bit of news fans heard the subject in months.
The plot of the upcoming story-driven DLC for GTA V is currently unknown. Fonteno’s involvement suggests that Franklin will return but it isn’t clear when the content will take place in regards to the timeline of the events from GTA V . It is assumed that Michael and Trevor would also join Franklin in the new DLC adventure.
Over the past year, Rockstar Games has not released any paid DLC packs for GTA V . As reported by the Inquisitr , the developer recently revealed that they have been able to give fans free DLC packs thanks to the existence of GTA Shark Cards. Rather than selling content that would keep the title’s userbase separate, Rockstar instead sells in-game currency through the use of these cards.
Grand Theft Auto V is out now on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3. As Rockstar Games works on online heists and a new single-player DLC, fans have been given access to a special seasonal event that gives players free access to several holiday-themed activities.
