Glenn Beck losing his voice may have forced some perspective on the controversial political pundit.

Though Beck has always been controversial, he has been noted recently for increasingly harsh and divisive rhetoric. After Michelle Obama stood up to a heckler during a speech last week, Beck excoriated her:

“This woman’s a monster,” Beck declared . “She is Lady MacBeth. She is a frightening woman.”

Prior to that he said that the NAACP, an African-American civil rights organization, is an affront to Martin Luther King Jr .

“Dismiss them…they are a joke, and an affront to everything that Martin Luther King and anybody who ever… Booker T. Washington, Frederick Douglass, you are an affront to their memory,” he said.

Beck copped to his angry rhetoric of late, and promised to try and tone it down .

“For any role that I have played in dividing, I wish I can take them back … I don’t wish I could take back the truth that was spoken but perhaps — not perhaps — many times I could have said it differently,” he said.

Now, he has that chance. Glenn Beck lost his voice, which he announced on note cards in a video set to emotive music. He said that his vocal chords are temporarily paralyzed, meaning he can’t speak for the time being. He says that the loss of his voice has caused him to re-think his punditry, and calls himself a changed man.

He says that from now on, he will only use his voice for “honor,” “courage,” and “love.”

What do you think of Glenn Beck losing his voice? Should he be taken at his word, or is this some kind of stunt? Sound off!
