Glee’s Max Adler Returning For A Special Arc For Final Season

Max Adler who played a homophobic jock on Glee is returning for a special arc on the show for the final season. Last time we left off with his character Dave Karofsky, he was recovering after a suicide attempt and dealing with the fact that he himself was gay. It was a storyline that was uniquely highlighted and many people took note of it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Max Adler isn’t making a guest stint — this arc of his will be major and effect someone Gleeks wouldn’t expect. Apparently it’s rumored that Adler will have some sort of relationship with Darren Criss’ Blaine. This seems kind of left field because when we left Blaine and Chris Colfer’s Kurt, they were happily engaged, but that probably won’t be the case for long.

According to Ryan Murphy a time jump will take place so the final season of Glee can focus on the main characters that made up the seasons that everyone loved. This means that there’s room for Kurt and Blaine to part ways if they needed to.

“The final season is really its own story and its own location, and while the New York stuff will be alive, the final season is not New York-centric at all.”

The Glee creator continued to explain how Glee’s final season will fit the show well:

“It really [will be] a lovely, fitting season that … dwells on the original people that were on the show and what happens to them and how they give back. That really is the last season..… We’ll revisit some of the new kids that came and went. There’s a return of the Jane-Matt characters in a big way. It’s really interesting, a very sweet, satisfying ending to the story.”

The last season of Glee will not feature a regular 22-23 episode order. Instead the season will be a short 13-episode affair.

As far as the final season not being New York-centric, this has been teased since April. Although Murphy’s series finale was originally planned for Cory Monteith and Lea Michele’s characters to reunite, the passing of Monteith last year changed all of that . Despite everything Murphy insisted that they have a very powerful and moving finale in mind.

“It’s about Rachel and Mr. Schue and it returns them to their origins and their roots, about how they felt about each other when they were younger and everything was idyllic. That ending has to be a reflection and celebration of how far all those characters have evolved.… The main thrust of [the episodes] will be a final farewell to all of our characters that we’ve known since season one.”
