One can assume George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding guests know where the highly-anticipated event is set to happen. Even if they have yet to receive the details, it’s likely they will get a heads up on the time and date so they can arrive on time. For media watchers and fans of the famous couple who may not be there in person, the specs on the ceremony still garner a massive amount of interest. Maybe it is a lingering disbelief that committed bachelor Clooney will actually make it official this time or maybe it’s a kind of admiration for Alamuddin, who is a very accomplished person in her own right.
Regardless, The Telegraph and other media outlets are reporting today that Clooney and Alamuddin will marry on September 27 of this year. The location is said to be the Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Italy. The locale is a former royal palace and current favored locale of the rich and famous. The city of the couple’s nuptials seems certain, since Clooney himself let everyone know of his intentions during a recent event. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , during a speech, Clooney expressed love for his future bride, who was in the audience and said their marriage was set to occur in Venice in a couple of weeks.
As for the ceremony itself, there have been no specifics released. NBC News published a profile of Alamuddin yesterday that focused on her Druze roots, and the pride felt by members of her community over her accomplishments.
Jamil Rajah, the deputy mayor of her hometown of Baakline in Lebanon, told NBC :
“Amal is an outstanding person and we are very proud of her. Quite aside from her marriage to George, she has made a name for herself as a talented lawyer.”
As NBC News notes, Clooney’s few public statements about his pending marriage included an editorial he wrote for the Daily Mail in response to the paper’s claim that Alamuddin’s mother opposed the marriage on religious grounds.
“[T]o exploit religious differences where none exist is at the very least negligent and more appropriately dangerous. We have family members all over the world, and the idea that someone would inflame any part of that world for the sole reason of selling papers should be criminal.”
The publication later issued an apology.
As for the wedding location, if the rumors are correct and it does indeed happen at the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, the couple and lucky guests will be treated to two 15th century palaces, a substantial garden and spectacular views. As for the honeymoon, there is no word on that yet.
