Did Gary Johnson have a heart attack? Not exactly. A video of the Libertarian candidate for president is making its rounds on the internet this week and people can’t stop talking about it. The video shows Gary Johnson faking a heart attack after a debate with a former lawmaker who is against legalizing marijuana.
And the best part of all of this? The video isn’t even current.
With Gary Johnson’s current poll numbers plummeting, this video was dug up and is being circulated on the internet — it’s even on Twitter’s front page. Johnson faked a heart attack by clutching his chest and falling to the floor during a somewhat intense debate about pot.
The reaction on social media has been pretty epic. Interestingly enough, most of the reactions on Twitter involve people saying that they are changing their vote after seeing the video. We presume that most of these people are just being facetious.

The video of Gary Johnson faking a heart attack has been viewed over 70,000 times on YouTube. It is presumed that many of those views came over the last 24 hours as people started searching for this hilarious stunt.
As you can see in the video below, the former lawmaker is talking about the side effects of marijuana.
“You have a one in five — a higher chance of having a heart attack within the first hour after you smoke marijuana. There are legitimate side effects of this drug. The THC–”
And then Gary Johnson clutches his chest and falls out of his chair on to the floor and the audience can be heard laughing.
“You know, I think the governor has had great fun with his humor,” the lawmaker continues. “But this isn’t funny,” she adds. The video cuts off there, but it’s clear to see Gary Johnson yucking it up after his decision to poke fun at the issue — and issue that he feels very strongly about. He believes that weed should be legalized on a state-by-state basis.
According to the Independent Journal Review , Johnson has openly admitted to smoking weed and got a bit emotional when talking about the criminalization of the substance.
“Look, I think I’m one of 100 million-plus Americans… until people start stepping up and saying, ‘Look, I’m not a criminal…I’m just a regular human being that if I choose to take the edge off of the day by consuming marijuana, who’s to begrudge me that? In the last 12 months, the number one category of arrest in this country is still marijuana. Still! That’s just flabbergasting. What I’ve always said is we all have friends, family, co-workers that use marijuana. And you may disagree with their use of marijuana, but none of them are criminal. And yet, it still is a criminal penalty.”
Gary Johnson’s fake heart attack video aside, the Libertarian candidate isn’t doing so great just one week ahead of the election. According to USA Today , Johnson’s dreams of becoming president are fading just as quickly as his presence in the national polls: He is down to 4.1 percent and is struggling to keep his head above water.
