Garth Brooks announced that he has planned a world tour for 2014. Next year’s tour will be the country superstar’s first in more than a decade. The 51-year-old has remained the top-selling country recording artist for the last 20 years.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after the release of Brooks’ latest box set. Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences debuted at number 3 on the US Billboard album chart.
In 2001, the iconic country singer retired from recording and touring as he wanted to spend more time with his three daughters. Although he performed several shows in 2005, this will be his first major tour in quite some time.
As reported by Taste of Country , Brooks’ girls are getting older, and he is ready to get back to work:
“It sure feels good to get to throw your hat back in the ring… Our baby is a senior in high school… All my babies are fine with it… So now I get to do what I love to do — play music… and my children are off on their own.”
Although Brooks has confirmed the tour, he did not disclose the dates. However, he said the dates will be confirmed “very soon.”
Garth Books hit the country music scene in 1989 with the release of his self-titled first album. His second album No Fences remained number one on Billboard’s country music chart for nearly six months. Although he had numerous number one hits, he will always be associated with the song “Friends in Low Places.”
Throughout his career, Brooks has sold more than 125 million albums, making him the second best-selling solo artist of all time. Elvis Presley holds the number one spot.
Ace Showbiz reports that Garth Brooks has received two Grammy Awards , 17 American Music Awards, and 24 Billboard Music Awards. His millions of fans world-wide have waited 12 years for his return.
