Sony has reduced the prices for Game of Throne s and Tales from the Borderlands on PlayStation 4 in Europe. Last week, fans noted that both games, which were developed by Telltale Games, were more expensive on PlayStation 4 than they were on Xbox One.
According to Eurogamer , the Game of Thrones Season 1 Season Pass is now £19.99 on PS4. It had been £24.99.
The Tales from the Borderlands Season Pass is now £15.99. It had been £18.99.
“Interestingly, on PS4 the price of episode one of both ‘Game of Thrones’ and Tales from the Borderlands has been reduced from £4.99 to £3.99 – price-matching them with their individual costs on Xbox One. The pricing of the ‘Game of Thrones’ season pass on Xbox One remains £15.99. On Xbox One the season pass only includes episodes 2-6, whereas on PS4 the season pass includes all six episodes, so the entire set is now one pence more expensive on PS4. The ‘Tales From The Borderlands’ season pass remains £11.99 on Xbox One.”
However, Sony, developer of Playstation 4, has found a new way to apologize to customer for this price discrepancy. According to Push Square , Sony has stressed that it will refund the difference to anyone who purchased the games before it announced the cut.
Though Sony was quick to give word on the refund it plans to offer, Eurogamer reported that neither Sony nor Telltale has given an explanation of the initial hike in the prices of Game of Throne s and Tales from the Borderlands on PlayStation 4.
But Eurogamer made reference to an interview it did with publisher Ubisoft last year, about price differences for of its PS4 and Xbox One launch games on the digital stores. Ubisoft this was due to Sony (developer of Playstation) and Microsoft (developer of Xbox) offering different “pricing matrices” for games.
“Both Microsoft and Sony provide pricing matrices for games sold digitally via their respective services, similar to the way tiered wholesale pricing works on Apple’s iTunes. Developers, including Ubisoft, then select a wholesale price within those tiers that best corresponds to our expectations of the games’ overall value and market potential. However, the final retail prices are determined by the vendor. Also, because those two matrices are not identical the resulting prices on the two online services don’t always align. We’re aware this is potentially confusing for customers and are looking into what can be done”
The Inqusitr previously reported that the first episode of Game of Thrones: Iron from Ice will get a worldwide PlayStation 3 release on December 9.
