It’s become customary for each season of Game of Thrones to conclude with a momentous battle scene, and Season 6 of Game of Thrones looks to provide no exception to that trend. In fact, Episode 9 of Game of Thrones Season 6 could see the show’s most significant clash to date. The episode, titled “Battle of the Bastards,” will see two key players in Game of Thrones , Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton, go head to head in an all-out war against each other.
According to Digital Spy , following last night’s airing of Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 8, as is customary, HBO released a teaser trailer for the next episode in the season. The teaser trailer provides fans of Game of Thrones with a glimpse of the battle that everybody’s been waiting for. Interestingly, the trailer features only footage from that great aforementioned battle, suggesting that Episode 9 will focus entirely on the battle for Winterfell between two great northern houses.
Previous episodes of the show have seen Jon Snow and his sister Sansa Stark plotting to retake the seat of the North and their home, Winterfell, from the increasingly insane Ramsay Bolton, while Episode 9 will see those plans come to a head as the siblings risk everything to reclaim all they’ve lost.
Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, has, of course, spent the last few years leading the Nights Watch and, as such, hasn’t been acquainted with the ghastly Ramsay Bolton, played by Iwan Rheon. On the other hand, his sister Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner, is more than aware of the terror created by Bolton following her arranged marriage to him. For Sansa, this battle definitely looks to be just as much about vengeance as it is about reclaiming the Stark’s former position within Westeros.

While the episode looks to be primarily focused on Jon and Sansa’s reclaim of power, it’s worth remembering that a number of other key figures will be of paramount importance to the battle, including Ser Davos, played by Liam Cunningham. The teaser trailer provides a glimpse of Stannis Baratheon’s former advisor looking at a pyre, suggesting that Ser Davos may finally learn of the fate of Shireen Baratheon at the hands of her father and Melisandre.

Season 5’s “Hardhome” episode, which saw Jon Snow face off against the White Walkers, received widespread acclaim. However, fans of Game of Thrones will be pleased to hear that “Battle of the Bastards” will be directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who is, of course, the name behind last year’s fantastic “Hardhome”.
Episode 9 of Game of Thrones Season 6 is almost guaranteed to set the scene for the season finale, which, as mentioned, will run for a record-breaking 69 minutes. Either way, Game of Thrones is now knee deep in the business end of its sixth season, and with that in mind, fans can expect plenty of revealing moments that will drastically change the show’s course.
