‘Game Of Thrones’: Have The Remaining Titles For Season 6 Been Leaked? If So, Expect An Epic Battle In Episode 9

HBO was keen to avoid episode leaks of Game of Thrones this year. However, leaks have still happened. While no episodes themselves have been disclosed, the titles for the remaining episodes of Season 6 may have been revealed by accident, and that, in itself, can tell a lot about what will happen for the remainder for Season 6.

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains information and speculation about the remainder of Season 6 of HBO’s Game of Thrones . Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid potential spoilers.

According to the Game of Thrones fan site, Winter Is Coming , the titles for Episodes 8, 9, and 10 were published on the Sky Atlantic Germany website . The tip-off originally came via another fan forum, Reddit’s A Song of Fire and Ice subreddit. The titles published for these episodes are as follows.

“Episode 8: “Niemand” (translates to “No One”) Episode 9: “Die Schlacht der Bastarde” (“The Battle of the Bastards”) Episode 10: “Die Winde des Winters” (“The Winds of Winter”)”

Episode 8 seems pretty self-explanatory considering where Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was at in Episode 6after she left the House of Black and White (who like to refer to each other by the name “no one”) and the prediction of where she is headed in Episode 7of Game of Thrones. Episode 9 we will come back to as there is some conjecture on the translation of the title. Episode 10 is the title for the current work in progress for George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fireseries the TV show is based on. Considering the show has already gone beyond the available source material, this seems an apt title for the culmination of Season 6.

But what of Episode 9? While the common translation for the German title is “The Battle of the Bastards,” one Reddit user claims it could also translate to mean “Bastardbowl” as well, which is a popular fan-named title . There is also some debate over whether these titles are even real or not as the Episode 9 title — regardless of its translation — is also a popular name for what they are anticipating will be a massive battle between the two bastards, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), as they fight for ownership of Winterfell and, by extension, the entire North. According to an interview Game of Thrones writer and producer Bryan Cogman did with Entertainment Weekly , this battle will be enormous.

“We’ve always wanted to get to a place – story-wise and budget-wise and time-wise and resource-wise – where we would be able to do a proper battle, with one army on one side, one army on another side.”

On board for this epic battle will be battle episode seasoned director Miguel Sapochnik, the man behind the Hardhome battle on Game of Thrones, which is featured in Episode 8 of Season 5. The plan is for this latest battle to be a classic army battle with two opposing sides and plenty of horses. “Horses are not easy, at all,” Game of Thronesshowrunner David Benioff explains. “And certainly in terms of numbers – number of extras, number of stuntmen, number of shooting days – it’s the biggest we’ve done.”

And if you are not entirely convinced Episode 9 is the battle we have all been waiting for, Entertainment Weekly released the official list stating the directors on board for Season 6 of Game of Thrones and the episodes they will be directing. According to the list, Miguel Sapochnik will be directing Episodes 9 and 10 of Game of Thrones , so this narrows it down considerably.
