Last night was an exciting and important evening for many in Hollywood, but while some were celebrating a rarely received award, Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley were revealing their own happy news. The supermodel was giddy, as she showed the engagement ring that now adorns her finger, courtesy of fiancée Jason Statham. The Furious 7 actor has been involved with Rosie for over five years, but it seems the couple now want to make a deeper commitment.
Jason Statham Proposes To Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Representatives for both Statham, who appeared in last year’s Spy , and Huntington-Whiteley, who had a role in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), confirmed the rumors that the couple are now engaged. Gossip was reinforced when Jason escorted Rosie to last night’s Golden Globe awards. Ms. Huntington-Whiteley’s engagement ring is said to have been as vibrant and sparkling as her Atelier Versace dress.
Jason and Rosie, who met in 2011 on the Transformers set, got engaged over the holidays, when Statham presented Ms. Huntington-Whiteley with the engagement ring , designed by Neil Lane.
The couple shares little about their personal lives, though it is known that the engagement news comes after a romantic holiday getaway to Phuket, Thailand.
“We’re best mates,” Huntington-Whiteley said in Self magazine’s April 2015 issue. “He makes me laugh every day. I almost feel like I never had a proper boyfriend before!”
Jason’s view of their relationship is less romanticized, as he left fans with the impression that life with him is all fun and games.
“We get drunk and float around the swimming pool.”
Jason joined Melissa McCarthy in introducing their film, Spy , at the Golden Globes, where it was nominated for an award. The film lost out to The Martian , which stars Matt Damon.
Jason Statham Is Confirmed To Reprise His Deckard Shaw Role In Furious 8
In assembling the principle characters for Furious 8 , director F. Gary Gray has recast Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw . Also joining the cast of the gritty, urban, fast-paced action film is Hollywood legend Helen Mirren, who had previously expressed an interest in being cast as a “mad driver” in the car racing franchise.
Vin Diesel, who has been playing Dominic Toretto since 2001’s The Fast and the Furious , asked fans, prior to Furious 7 , which actor should play the Shaw character. In an interesting twist, fans overwhelmingly voted for Statham. Together with Mirren, it’s said that Jason Statham will become a greater threat to Dominic and his gang in Furious 8. There are rumors that the eighth installment may also open the door for a spinoff with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson heading up a new branch of the franchise.
Although Paul Walker was tragically killed midway through filming, Furious 7 was finished by utilizing computer generated images to recreate Walker. Though a plot for Furious 8 is currently unknown, rumors are beginning to circulate that the studio may use similar technology to again bring Paul back from beyond his grave to reprise the role of Brian O’Conner.
The advent of C.G.I. technology has been a mixed blessing for Hollywood, but as new advances continue to improve C.G.I. abilities, images of deceased celebrities turning up in new films or promoting new products may become more and more prevalent.
Ignoring the legal quagmire that is sure to arise from this practice, is it morally appropriate? Isn’t one finite lifetime of service enough, without having a celebrity recreated over and over, long after they have been laid to rest?
If Paul Walker is recreated for Furious 8 , the success or failure of the use of C.G.I. for this purpose may affect how movies are made in the future. There may come a day when we won’t need actors at all. Just one lone computer programmer alone in a lab.
