Fans of Full House were crushed when they learned that Michelle Tanner wasn’t going to be included in the Full House spin-off series for Netflix. All of the characters and the actors that portrayed them are coming back to the show in some capacity. Even DJ Tanner’s ex-boyfriend Steve has an episode.

Now that it’s been confirmed that the Olsen Twins aren’t returning, fans want to know how Michelle Tanner’s character will be handled, and we finally got an answer. According to Us Weekly , Michelle, much like Mary-Kate and Ashley, is in New York pursuing her fashion career. She’s concentrating on growing a fashion empire.

That’s not all! In one of the episodes, the characters will do a series of prank calls to Michelle Tanner, saying, “You got it, dude!” which was the popular phrase coined by the character on Full House .

At first there was rumbling that the Olsens twins might be interested in reprising the role, then it was said that they weren’t interested. When the Olsen twins were confronted about not making a return to Full House . Mary Kate-Olsen said in response, “We just found out about it today. I guess we’re going to talk to the creators and see what’s happening.”

Ashley said, “I ran into Bob [Saget] the other day and we didn’t even talk about it. I’m going to call [Saget] and get his perspective.”

John Stamos took huge issue with the implication that producers would contact everyone but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and decided to publicly call the twins out on their bluff on Twitter.

Then, for a short period of time, there was discussion on whether the powers that be would get one twin to portray Michelle Tanner, and there was some hope that one or both of the twins would come back to reprise the role. Netflix Chief Ted Sarandos said at the TCAs that the twins “are teetering whether or not they will be around.”

That said, fans dreams were dashed when the idea to have the twins on the show was nixed by the Olsen twins. The series’ producer Robert L. Boyett explained back in May , “Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of ‘Fuller House,’ I know how much ‘Full House’ has meant to them, and they are still very much considered family,”

“It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes toward ‘Fuller House.’”

Prior to an actual confirmation, some of the cast mates weren’t convinced that either twin would make their return to Full House , despite everyone else being on board for at least an appearance, if not more. Specifically, Candace Cameron-Bure told Us Weekly that she wasn’t holding her breath on the two returning.

“I don’t know about the twins, but it would be great if one of them came back… I’m not holding my breath. I’m not sure if they’re going to do it, but we really only need one.”

For those who don’t know, Fuller House will center around the Tanner girls all grown up. In it, DJ Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) just lost her husband, and is raising two boys on her own, that is until her best bud Kimmy Gibler (Andrea Barber) comes in to help her. Sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), who is a musician, is also asked to move in. Netflix decided to order the series for 13 episodes for season one.
