The Freddie Prinze Jr. hit She’s All That is getting a remake. The hit 90’s movie, which also co-starred Paul Walker and Rachael Leigh Cook, is being developed for a modern day remake, and fans have mixed feelings about the decision.
According to The Wrap , a remake is in the works but will likely be modernized to fit the updated social media age that high school students are currently living in.
The movie centered around Freddie Prinze Jr.’s character, Zack, who was the most popular boy in his high school. He was good looking, athletic, and a great student. However, after he and his classmates return back to school after Spring Break, he finds out that his girlfriend, Taylor, who is the most popular girl in school, has met a MTV reality star and wants to break up.
Zack is totally shocked, and tells his friends that Taylor is totally replaceable. Zack’s best friend, played by the late Paul Walker, challenges him to take a random girl from their class and make her popular enough to be elected prom queen over Taylor, and a bet ensues. An artsy, nerdy, quiet girl, Laney Boggs, played by Rachael Leigh Cook, is chosen and Zack surprising falls in love with her after giving her a makeover and learning more about her life.
The Celebrity Cafe reports that Tonya Lewis Lee, who’s the wife of famed director and basketball enthusiast Spike Lee, will produce and Kenny Leon will direct the She’s All That remake. This will be the second Freddie Prinze Jr. 90’s film to get the remake treatment, as his movie I Know What You Did Last Summer , which co-starred Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie’s wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar is also getting a remake.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , Freddie Prinze Jr. recently underwent spinal surgery , which had him laid up for some time. The actor’s wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, revealed that her husband basically had to re-learn how to walk.
It should be interesting to see how a new cast and updated story will compare to the older version and if fans will love and accept the remake as much as the original movie. In addition, a hot, new, young cast will also have to be in place to fill the shoes of Prinze, Paul Walker, and Rachael Leigh Cook.
