Fred Durst Producing One-Hour Drama For CW

Fred Durst is producing a one-hour drama based on his life for The CW. The special, titled The Noise, was created by Durst and chronicles his rise to fame in the 1990s.

Durst escaped from a tumultuous home life with the help of his uber-successful rap/rock band. During the 1990s we couldn’t escape Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit. The frontman was one of Total Request Live’s (TRL) regular guests and his band on the strength of the hit songs “Nookie,” “Break Stuff,” and even a cover of George Michael’s “Faith.”

The one-hour drama for The CW will be co-executive produced by Fred Durst and written by Miles Feld. Other executive producers from CBS TV Studios are Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.

If the Tannenbum-Durst, team sounds familiar, that’s because two years ago they created the sitcom Douchebag for CBS. That series concept also focused on a rock star as he balanced his wild ways and his new life as a family man.

Rap metal began to lose its appeal as the 1990s drew to a close and Fred Durst transitioned from his rap/rock roots into film and TV management. Durst directed the 2007 feature The Education of Charlie Banks and 2008’s The Longshots.

In 2013 Fred Durst executive produced the Pawn Shop Chronicles.

The rap/rocker sure has come a long way since the days when he was known more for cavorting around the Playboy mansion than producing hit tracks and appearing on TRL.

In the meantime Limp Bizkit is once against touring and on July 22, 2013 they released the music video for “Ready To Go,” the first track off their upcoming seventh studio album. The album is being produced by Cash Money Records.

Are you still a fan of Limp Bizkit and Fred Durst and their personal blend of Metal Rock and Rap?
