According to the reports, the deceased victims were Kayla Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Scott, 19, of Dunwoody. The driver of the Camry carrying the young women, Agnes Kim, 21, of Snellville, was in critical condition as of late Thursday morning. Reports indicate that the Camry carrying the five young women appears to have crossed the center median abruptly, causing the vehicle to hit the oncoming car driven by 27-year-old Abby Short, who was also hospitalized following the crash.

“The Camry was heading north when it veered into the southbound lanes and was struck on the passenger side by a blue Chevrolet Cobalt, the Georgia State Patrol said in a preliminary report.”
It was revealed that all five young women were very active on the University of Georgia campus, with at least two of the girls active members of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. The Daily Mail notes that Kayla Canedo and Christina Semeria were members of the sorority and frequently posted images together from Alpha Chi Omega events. The sorority says they are mourning the tragic loss of their sisters.
“The entire Alpha Chi Omega family mourns the tragic loss of our Beta Sigma sisters Kayla Canedo and Christina Semeria. Our hearts also go out to the friends and families of the other students lost in this terrible accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with our Beta Sigma chapter, and the entire University of Georgia community.”
Brittany Feldman is a member of Pi Beta Phi, and Halle Scott is a sister of Delta Delta Delta. The University of Georgia’s Delta Delta Delta chapter has also posted a tribute to their lost sister on Facebook, calling Halle a “loving woman who brought joy to everyone she encountered.”
Other sorority and fraternities have also taken to Facebook to give their condolences to the young women, noting that the Greek community as a whole will be mourning their loss. The groups have also expressed that they have been praying for Agnes Kim and her recovery.
Authorities investigating the incident say that alcohol and drugs are likely not a factor in the horrific car crash. However, an investigation into the cause of the crash is still underway.
