Karen de la Carriere, the ex-wife of the president of Scientology and a former high-ranking executive, is applauding Leah Remini for her decision to leave the church. De la Carriere is also urging the King of Queens star to talk about why she chose to leave after being a member for over 30 years.
“I truly hope Leah goes public, in whatever forum she wants to, whether it be doing media interviews, or posting messages on social media, with why she decided to leave Scientology,” de la Carriere told RadarOnline .
Remini left the church following disagreements with David Miscavige , the leader of Scientology. The 43-year-old questioned several policies, specifically those regarding excommunication, and was subjected to “thought modification.” She also asked why Miscavige’s wife, Shelly, who hasn’t been seen in public since 2007, wasn’t at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ 2006 wedding. The head of the Scientology Celebrity Centre, Tommy Davis, told Remini, “You don’t have the f***ing rank to ask about Shelly.”
De la Carriere added, “Leah is extremely brave to leave the church, especially at this point in her life. It’s my hope that Leah reveal her experiences with the church, and what fallout if any she has received from leaving. Leah was at Tom Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes and knows a lot of information that the public would certainly find extremely interesting.”
When Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise, de la Carriere said that she had “outwitted some of the most controlling people on earth.” She also said that there was “no doubt” that Holmes was being tailed by Scientologists.
“It’s par for the course,” de la Carriere. “But she had to have planned this very carefully, right down to using disposable cell phones and laptops to throw people off her trail. It had to have been a very cloak-and-dagger operation.”
De la Carriere also let Remini know that she has friends and supporters who will help her as she builds a new life outside of Scientology.
“There is a world of support out there for Leah,” she said. “She has stepped into the light and out of the darkness. She isn’t alone, and I’m so proud of her.”
