Dave Grohl has revealed that his favorite live band of all time is Oasis.
The Foo Fighters lead singer and guitarist made the remarks while talking to XFM . When the topic of Oasis was brought up, Grohl quickly started to praise the Mancunian band. Grohl declared that it was a “shame” that they had split up, before he declared that they were “the greatest rock band [he’d] ever seen in [his] life.”
Dave Grohl then went on to explain that Liam and Noel Gallagher are completely misunderstood and he expressed his deep disappointment that they no longer play live or create music.
“The whole Oasis thing is a shame. We all love Oasis. We’ve played shows with them before, where I look at them and think, ‘That’s the greatest rock band I’ve ever seen in my life.’ To know that they’re out there somewhere but they won’t come together to do the thing that everybody would love so much.”
“They’re fun. They have such a crazy reputation of being ‘the Oasis guys,’ and then you see them at the bar and they show you pictures of their kids. And you’re like, ‘Wow, they’re just normal dudes’, y’know?”
It’s been heavily speculated that either Noel Gallagher, Oasis or the Foo Fighters could headline Glastonbury festival in 2015. In the past Dave Grohl has even insisted that he would love to play at the top of the bill of the event.
However, Michael Eavis, the 78-year-old organizer of the festival, recently admitted that he would love for Oasis to headline Glastonbury. And now that Liam Gallagher has split from Beady Eye he thinks that the perfect opportunity has arisen for them to do so.
“I talk to Noel and Liam a lot. Wouldn’t it be marvelous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury now Liam has split from Beady Eye?”
Meanwhile Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, who previously used to play rhythm guitar with Liam and Noel Gallagher in Oasis, has also teased that he believes Oasis will eventually reform.
“I love Beady Eye. I love Noel’s High Flying Birds too. But I can’t say anything about a reunion. I’m sworn to secrecy. Besides, I’d be the last person to know.”
Noel Gallagher has insisted that an Oasis reunion isn’t “on the cards” though. Even though Beady Eye are no more he has declared that he enjoys playing in his new band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, too much to play with Oasis again.
“It’s not on the cards. From where I sit now it’s purely a creative thing … I really, really enjoy where I am with my music and where I am with my band. I wouldn’t be willing to give that up for anything.”
