A Florida roller coaster accident involving Universal Studios’ Rip Ride Rockit left many riders stranded vertically.

Now the recent roller coaster accident at Universal Studios was caused by a “technical issue” that caused the ride to be “safely stopped” while at the top of the first lift. The reason this is such a big deal is because this particular lift is almost completely vertical, and the only reason this ride allows it is because the Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster features a full body safety harness that wraps over the torso. This design feature is necessary because other sections feature inverted loops where thrill seekers are spun facing the outside of the loop instead of the normal inside view.
But this particular day, at the tip of this peak the Florida roller coaster got stuck. The only good news is that Universal Studios representatives claim no one was injured and all the riders were taken “safely and quickly” down from this sharp drop. Repair crews were spotted later on by helicopters attempting to fix the problem.
