The Fifty Shades Of Grey producers are eyeing Dakota Johnson (The Social Network) to play Anastasia Steele.
Rumors are abound, as the studio is set to finalize the main cast before production begins for the adaptation of E.L. James’ novel . The film is slated to hit theaters less than a year from now.
The latest name to surface as a possible Anastasia is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Dakota Johnson, who started her career as a model before turning to acting. Johnson starred in The Social Network and took part in that memorable scene with Justin Timberlake.
The actress landed her own Fox TV show, Ben And Kate and recently appeared in The Office series finale. Next she stars in Dreamworks’ action film alongside Aaron Paul, Need For Speed.
The Wrap is reporting that, at this point nothing is firm and Johnson is one of the contenders to play the coveted role. She fits the qualities producers are looking for, she is 20-something up and comer.
Fifty Shades Of Grey is short on time, they have yet to cast the two main characters, college graduate Anastasia Steele and hunky billionaire businessman Christian Grey.
Dakota Johnson and Universal Studios, the film’s producer, have not commented.
The belief is that the part of Anastasia will go to a relatively newcomer since it has the potential of being a star-making role. It is not believed that the studio is looking for an established actress.
Whoever is chosen will reportedly have to be comfortable with doing nudity and many actress have stipulations against doing full nude scenes and use body doubles.
Dakota Johnson, being a model, is used to showing off her body on the cat walk, which is not to say she would be comfortable baring it all in a potential role for the raunchy film.
The Inquisitr reported on Tuesday that producers are looking at Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam. Producers says that Christian’s casting won’t happen until after they have Anastasia in place.
Fifty Shades Of Grey will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. An official casting announcement is expected to happen after labor day.
