Fast & Furious 7 star Vin Diesel posted photos of the movie, which show his late co-star and friend, Paul Walker. Diesel is clearly still very affected by the untimely death of his longtime pal, who was killed in a tragic car accident while production for the film was taking a Thanksgiving break in 2013.
Ever since that awful day, Vin Diesel has used his Facebook page to post regular tributes to Paul Walker, and now that a trailer of Fast & Furious 7 has been screened by Universal Studios, he is once again making reference to his late buddy, “Pablo”, as he affectionately calls Walker. Diesel posted this still of a scene in which Toretto (Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Walker) are looking very dapper while inside the garage.
“Universal came to visit, to show the trailer for FF7…”
“Speechless… yeah, it was that INCREDIBLE!”
“I must also say, that it was emotional and bittersweet… we all went above and beyond to make Pablo proud, but man, I wish he could see what we have created and just how far we have come.”
Vin Diesel shared this photo of Toretto, on the set of Fast & Furious 7 , along with the touching quote.
Following Paul Walker’s death, Fast & Furious 7 took a break to allow cast and crew to process what had happened. In the meantime, director James Wan and his team were scrambling to figure out whether to continue with the seventh installment of the super successful franchise or scrap the production.
In the end, Universal decided to move forward and finish Fast & Furious7 as a sort of memorial to Walker and his long standing relationship with the studio in general, and the franchise in particular. Paul Walker, along with Vin Diesel, are two of the original cast members.
Even though Walker had scenes to finish at the time of his death, producers were able to work around that, when his brothers stepped up and signed on to take Walker’s place so the studio could complete his scenes. Caleb and Cody Walker , who have a striking resemblance to their late brother, filled in for their fallen brother.
Universal plans to “write-off” Paul Walker’s character, Brian O’Conner, and move on without him. It seemed the most appropriate course of action after the studio decided that they would continue with Fast & Furious 7 , which roars into theaters on April 3, 2015.
