After weeks of being teased by promo images posted by Vin Diesel, the first trailer for Fast and Furious 6 has finally arrived online.
Diesel revealed on his official Facebook page that the first trailer for the next installment of the car-oriented action franchise would debut at some point during the Super Bowl. True to his word, the spot appeared about an hour into the game.
The trailer isn’t very long, but it definitely packs a punch. Not only does the film tease another epic showdown between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel, it also showcases the return of Michelle Rodriguez to the series.
As fascinating as all of that may be, the trailer’s highlight comes when our heroes use their expensive rides to bring down an airplane. It’s a fiery set piece that’s sure to be one of many sprinkled throughout the upcoming sequel.
The official synopsis for the flick reads:
“Since Dom and Brian’s Rio heist toppled a kingpin’s empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.
“Meanwhile, Hobbs has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty. The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.”
