James Woodley desperately searched for his lost cat using all of the traditional methods. He put up flyers, he went door-to-door, he even asked people around his neighborhood when he saw them outside of his home. It turns out the best method was Facebook.
Turning to Facebook to find his cat named Zion, Woodley started the “ Find Zion ” page. Woodley tells Buddy Media:
“I put out a status update, asking my friends to look at the Page, like it and share it to try to get some reach outside of my network. A handful of people liked it and asked a few questions.”
Zion has been missing for two days, so, in a desperate attempt to find his beloved feline before it was too late, James Woodley started buying up ads targeted at people in his suburban London town. Thirty minutes after the Facebook ads were placed, tips started rolling in. One of those tips came from a female resident in his town who sent along her contact information.
According to Woodley:
“The girl told me that she thought Zion had been run over, because she saw him, on the day he went missing, in the middle of the road, and she tried to coach him to the side. Apparently he got scared and ran into the woods.”
After Woodley headed over to the woods where Zion was last seen, he called out the cats name and heard her cries of help coming from just inside the forested area.
If you need proof that Facebook ads work on a local level, there you have it.
