Erin Andrews got it in the neck from Richard Sherman in a live interview following his team’s NFC championship victory on Sunday night. Despite the fact that the win means that Sherman and his team, the Seattle Seahawks will be going to the Super Bowl, he kept yelling at the 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.
He started his rant with Erin Andrews, saying: “I’m the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me. Don’t you open your mouth about the best, or I’ll shut it for you real quick.”
In order to try and calm the situation, Andrews quickly asked Sherman: “Who was talking about you?” But that didn’t help as Sherman, who was clearly beside himself about something, continued ranting and raving.
Just before he snapped at Erin Andrews, Sherman ran over to Crabtree , who had clearly upset him in some way and smacked him hard on the butt, then getting in his face before body checking him with a push.
However, Andrews didn’t appear to get too flustered or intimidated by the situation. And in keeping with her well-known professionalism, she kept calm and tweeted after the interview: “Richard Sherman gave a candid response seconds after an emotional game..looking forward to a great Super Bowl matchup .”
Hmmm – candid? Interesting word. Sherman certainly was candid during the impromptu interview, but what happened with Crabtree that got him so upset? And what is an interviewer like Erin Andrews supposed to do in such a situation?
Well, we don’t really know what upset Richard Sherman; it’s pretty lucky that the altercation didn’t go further and turn violent. How do you think Erin Andrews handled Richard Sherman in the interview? Share your comments in the feed below.
