It’s hard to picture Emma Stone before she was a celebrity. Going back to the 90s before she hit the scene, Emma was probably a teen just singing along to her favorite girl group Spice Girls. Well, today we got a little bit of a taste of what that might have looked like in the late 90s when Spice Girls were all the rage. Back then, Stone was barely out of her pre-teens when she was gobbling up Spice Girl hit after hit.

Today, Emma Stone showed her inner Spice Girl geek while promoting her new film The Amazing Spider-Man 2 . It all went down when Australia’s 2Day FM Merrick Watts and Sophie Monk revealed to Emma that she almost had a chance to meet Mel B of the Spice Girls, because she often co-hosts the program. Of course this little tidbit sent Stone into a fit of tears and left the actress very verklempt.

Because Mel B missed the chance to interview Emma Stone, she decided to leave the Spice Girls fan a message, which left her squealing with delight. Seconds before she let the waterworks flow, Stone declared, “I’m gonna cry.”

As the video played, Emma was in complete disbelief, having asked, “Oh my god, is Mel B talking to me? Oh my god, I’m so excited. I’m legitimately crying. I’m the biggest Spice Girls fan ever.” In the video Mel B admitted that she was a fan of Emma’s, having said in her video to Stone:

“I love you. And I want to say thank you for being such a Spice Girl fan. But my question to you is, why did you like Baby Spice and not me more?”

This refers to a 2012 interview Emma Stone did with Entertainment Weekly when she admitted in the issue that she wanted to be just like Baby Spice when he was growing up.

Mel B continued to “chastise” Emma Stone for having another spice girl as her favorite. “Your punishment for that, is I want you to do a rendition of one of the Spice Girls songs.”

After the video was through, Stone was visibly over the moon about the mini Spice Girl encounter, and even burst into Mel B’s rap from the 90s hit single “Wannabe.” Her rendition of the song is pretty great, but that isn’t a surprise considering Stone first got her start in the business as a contestant on the VH1 reality series In Search of The Partridge Family .
