On Wednesday, Donald Trump held his first cabinet meeting with all secretaries. However, mid-way through the meeting, he willingly gave the floor to Elon Musk. Dressed in a black ensemble which included a black “tech support” t-shirt, a black jacket, and his signature black MAGA cap, Elon took centre stage at the cabinet meeting.
The meeting was held in the White House Cabinet Room. Musk was then invited by President Trump to say “few words” about DOGE’s work and how it contributes to the administration. Apparently, Trump has mastered the political language of saying a few words.
Elon Musk, in front of all cabinet secretaries, said that he calls himself a humble tech guy. That’s because his DOGE squad is tasked with “helping fix the government’s computer systems.”
Describing the governmental technology as old and depleted, Elon said that these systems are not in contact with each other. He pointed out various errors in the system. He emphasized that he wants the government to spend less on debt servicing and more on the military. This is when the US spends most of its money on military equipment.
However, Musk seems unsatisfied. He added that his “overall goal” with DOGE is to reduce the government deficit, a duty entrusted to Congress by the U.S. Constitution. But since all that is required is for computer systems to be upgraded, all he is doing is providing tech support.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk stood in front of secretaries to give them a brief about DOGE and its working. He talked about how DOGE has been trying to save government money and has his team have been getting death threats over it.
Elon went on to explain his plans and ideas for the betterment of the nation, even if it meant bodily harm. He said, “We spend a lot on the Defence Department. We spend over $1 trillion on interest. If this continues, the country will become de facto bankrupt. It’s not an optional thing. It is essential. That’s the reason I am here. I am taking a lot of flak, and getting a lot of death threats.”
Elon Musk revealed that he is getting a lot of death threats.

With the unlimited power given to DOGE, Elon Musk has entered federal space. He has been pressuring federal employees to respond to an Office of Personnel Management directive. He wants them to provide five bullet points outlining their accomplishments over the past week. Several cabinet departments have objected to this request.
He asserted that the government-wide email was an effort to ensure that the individuals employed by the government are real people and not fictitious names. By mentioning this, he has raised questions over credibility of all the governments before Trump’s.

However, he hasn’t provided any proof of his plan either. Rather, he has been threatening people with the loss of their jobs if they don’t comply with his demands.
In response to the ever-increasing involvement of DOGE and Elon Musk in the day-to-day functioning of several federal agencies, he has faced severe backlash, too. Many employees have criticized this move, and unions are planning to sue Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
There are several disgruntled federal employees who found themselves out of the job. These sudden firings and questioning ethics and work of federal workers has not been an easy pill to swallow. As a response, Musk is now seeing the adverse response to his actions.
As Musk and Trump continue to enrage the citizens and fire people, the cabinet may need to hold its meeting more often. They might also need to listen to what the general public is actually saying.
