The California primaries are today, and both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have been campaigning hard in the Golden State, as Fox News reports. But even with names as well-known as Sanders and Clinton, when you’re touring the biggest state in the nation, it couldn’t hurt to bring some celebrities along to help bolster your image for the California voters who have yet to make up their mind.
For those voters who can’t determine which candidate has the better fiscal policy or a better plan for peace in the Middle East, could their vote come down to which celebrities are siding with which presidential campaign?
Could the fact that young actress Shailene Woodley can #FeelTheBern mean more to some voters than the fact that Chloe Moretz has said #ImWithHer on social media?

Could the unwavering support of Susan Sarandon for Bernie Sanders be enough to persuade someone to vote for the self-proclaimed democratic-socialist? Is that more persuasive than Sally Field’s clear endorsement of former Secretary of State lady Hillary Clinton?
In the celebrity-obsessed culture of the United States, Hollywood endorsements can mean as much as political expertise. That is clearly the case with the Republican Party, who chose to name celebrity TV star and real estate mogul Donald Trump as their candidate for the 2016 Presidential Election, over literally dozens of experienced politicians who competed for the opportunity to represent the GOP in November.
So then, which celebrities are on Team Bernie and which Hollywood darlings are throwing their support behind Team Hillary?
Bernie Sanders: celebrity endorsements
As noted above, the face of the Divergent film franchise, Shailene Woodley, is a strong supporter of Bernie Sanders, and she was out with quite the crew in California.
Woodley was accompanied by Rosario Dawson, who was one of the stars of the highly-controversial 1995 film Kids and went on to star in many other things, including the Sin City movies and Top Five . More recently, Dawson has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Netflix as a recurring character in Daredevil , who also makes cameos in Jessica Jones and will be a regular on Luke Cage .
Both Dawson and Woodley are shown above with Kendrick Sampson ( The Vampire Diaries , How to Get Away with Murder ) on their way to Stockton, California, about a week ago. Behind Dawson and Sampson (in the glasses) is Nomiki Konst, a political analyst and television personality who also backs Senator Sanders.

One the biggest names endorsing the Sanders campaign — and one of the most vocal supporters — is Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon. Danny Glover made headlines after appearing with Bernie Sanders in California last week, while Ronda Rousey has said that she would rather vote for Bernie Sanders or a third party than to side with either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton: celebrity endorsements
Of course, Hillary Clinton has been in the spotlight much longer than Bernie Sanders, so her list of celebrity friends is at least as big as Bernie’s. After all, Clinton even attended Donald Trump’s wedding . So it should come as no surprise that many celebrities want to see Hillary Clinton become the first female president of the United States of America.
Helping secure the youth-celebrity vote for Hillary Clinton are endorsements from Darren Criss ( Glee , Girl Most Likely ) and Chloe Moretz ( Kick-A** , Diary of a Wimpy Kid ).

Several other celebrities were seen in full support of Clinton in California recently, including the iconic Sally Field, Elizabeth Banks ( Wet Hot American Summer , The 40-Year-Old Virgin ), Sophia Bush ( One Tree Hill , Chicago P.D. ), model Jaime King, and actress Marie Steenburgen ( Melvin and Howard , The Last Man on Earth ), among many others.
