Election 2016: Trump Goes After Cruz’s Dad, Claims He Helped Kill JFK

Donald Trump has once again made headlines (such as he did in this instance ) by going after Ted Cruz’s dad and claiming he helped kill JFK in 1963. What would prompt Donald Trump to go after Cruz’s dad in this manner? Perhaps it has something to do with a National Enquirer story where they floated the conspiracy theory that Cruz’s dad was remarkably similar to a man that Lee Harvey Oswald was filmed with in New Orleans a few years before the attacks. Granted, the facial features of the unknown man are indeed very distinct, and they are definitely comparable to Rafael Cruz. Perhaps that is what prompted Donald Trump to go after Cruz’s dad like he did.

Naturally, Ted Cruz is furious that Donald Trump would decide to go after his dad like this, even though the Donald has developed a reputation for saying outrageous things. Ted Cruz called Trump a “pathological liar,” “utterly amoral,” and a “serial philanderer” for trying to link his dad to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. “This man is a pathological liar,” Cruz said in regard to Trump and in defense of his beloved father Rafael. “He doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies…in a pattern that is straight out of a psychology text book, he accuses everyone of lying.” Speak for yourself, Ted. The Donald may have been out of bounds when he decided to go after your father and accuse him of helping Oswald assassinate JFK, but you are just as guilty as he is.

Earlier in this election, Ted Cruz accused Donald Trump of having ties to organized crime. So perhaps in regards to his decision to go after Cruz’s dad, Trump may feel that “what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.” Or, it could just be that this is simply the nature of a cutthroat presidential election, and Trump’s notion to go after Cruz’s father is simply a by-product of that.

A television picture, broadcast in May 1977, of a police mugshot of former United States Marine Lee Harvey Oswald (1939 - 1963) on the day of his arrest in New Orleans, 9th August 1963. Oswald had been arrested for disturbing the peace after he was involved in a fight with a Cuban anti-Castro campaigner. Three and a half months later Oswald assassinated US President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. New Orleans is where he was filmed with the unknown man who looks similar to Rafael Cruz, Ted Cruz's father. (Photo by Ernst Haas/Hulton Archive/Getty Images)

Yet another explanation is that Donald Trump is simply repeating what he has already heard from another source. The National Enquirer, which is by no means a reputable source, originally reported the fact that Lee Harvey Oswald was filmed with the man in New Orleans, and to be honest, his unknown companion does look remarkably similar to photographs of Rafael Cruz at that time. Ted Cruz can call Donald Trump a pathological liar all that he wants, but the fact remains that in politics, anything is fair game. Going after Ted Cruz’s dad is simply the nature of the beast.

Ted Cruz was very sarcastic about Donald Trump going after his dad, telling reporters that “yes, my dad killed JFK….Jimmy Hoffa is buried in his backyard.” Of course, there are more ominous and truthful accusations underfoot in regards to these accusations. In deciding to go after Cruz’s dad, Trump supporters might be interested in the following tidbit: Rafael Cruz was actually a Fidel Castrol supporter for a very long time. He did not disavow the Cuban dictator until he actually studied it and realized how poor the ideology actually is. Incidentally, (and perhaps ironically) Lee Harvey Oswald was also an avowed supporter of the Castro regime.

Finally, in his decision to go after Cruz’s dad, Trump is simply copying the National Enquirer . This actually isn’t the first time they have attempted to smear Ted Cruz. They previously claimed that Ted Cruz had five mistresses. Of course, it’s important to note that the tabloid magazine has also endorsed Donald Trump. However, although Donald Trump’s decision to go after Ted Cruz’s dad might have been short-sighted, apparently, the voters in Indiana did not agree with Cruz. It has been reported that Trump is the winner of the Indiana Primary and Ted Cruz has decided to drop out of the U.S. Presidential Race.

What do you think about these recent developments regarding Donald Trump’s decision to go after Cruz’s dad, Trump’s decisive victory over Ted Cruz in Indiana, and Cruz’s decision to drop out of the race? Have your say in the comments section below!
