E.L. James Swears Ryan Gosling Isn’t Going To Star In ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

During a recent interview on Ryan Seacrest’s radio program, Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James revealed that Ryan Gosling isn’t in the running to star in the novel’s upcoming cinematic adaptation. According to Access Hollywood , reports that Gosling was on-tap to star as Christian Grey in flick have been grossly misreported yet again. I wonder what she thought about the Justin Bieber rumor that was swirling around for about two seconds a while back?

The Ryan Gosling rumor began when a UK magazine reported that James’ husband, Niall Leonard, claimed the Drive star was his wife’s top choice for the role. The next thing you know, social media outlets were swamped with reports that Gosling was to star in the feature. E.L. James, of course, wasn’t exactly thrilled with the latest batch of rumors making the rounds.

“What happened is that his local paper, he’s from Northern Ireland, reported on my husband being the inspiration for Christian Grey,” the author explained to Ryan Seacrest. “Underneath it, they put a picture of Ryan Gosling as well. So, that’s how that [rumor] came about.”

Gather reports that another potential candidate for the role of Christian Grey is Alexander Skarsgard, who is known for his work on the hit HBO series True Blood . During a recent event to promote a new fragrance from Calvin Klein, Skarsgard took a moment to address rumors that he is slated to star in Fifty Shades of Grey .

“Step one is always reading the material… before you’ve done that, you can’t say if you’re excited or not. I haven’t read the books. All I know is that they are very popular, obviously,” he explained. So much for that rumor, I guess.

Other possible Christian Grey candidates include Chris Pine, Ian Somerhalder, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Since E.L. James has stated it’s much too early in the process to reveal who is being considered, the internet will continue its endless speculation. Now that Ryan Gosling is out of the question, who do you think should star in Fifty Shades of Grey ?
