Did the Duggars delete same-sex kisses from their Facebook page? According to E! News , whoever runs the official Duggar family Facebook page asked fans to post photos of them kissing their spouse . This “challenge” of sorts came just weeks after Jessa and Ben Seewald were criticized by many for sharing a photo of themselves kissing days after their wedding. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar did a copycat pose, and then asked their fans to join in on the fun. Harmless, right?
“God designed marriage to be a loving, dynamic relationship between a husband and wife for a lifetime. God loves marriage and it is supposed to be full of love, joy, fun and romance. Marriage is where romance belongs! Recently, Ben & Jessa received some criticism for posting a kissing picture. We are so grateful they waited to share their first kiss until after marriage. We’ve been married 30 years and are still in love! We had fun trying to duplicate Ben and Jessa’s happily married kissing picture. We challenge all married couples to take a happily married picture and post it here.”
Well, when the Duggars decided to delete same-sex kisses from the photos they received, people were outraged. According to Us Magazine , same-sex couples started to notice that the photos they had posted on the Facebook chain had been deleted. If you look at the thread now, you will notice that there is not one photo of a same-sex couple kissing. Not only that, but some say that the Duggars completely blocked them from posting on the page altogether .
“It was getting lots of likes, but the Duggars must not have liked it very much — they pulled it down and blocked me from posting, liking, or commenting on the page altogether. How sad that they feel so threatened by other loving marriages,” said LGBTQ blogger John Becker.
People have been taking to social media to comment on the Duggars’ decision to delete photos that didn’t portray what they feel is “right.” Interestingly enough, there has been some support for the Christian family.
“You don’t need to stalk a page and say hurtful things just because you don’t agree with certain things they say. Everyone has the right to their opinion but if all you plan to do is say hurtful things then just don’t bother,” said Facebook user Stacey Lynn Orris.
“Stand strong in your beliefs and know that your brothers and sisters in Christ are standing with you,” wrote Annamarie Million.
Even still, the fact that the Duggars deleted same-sex kisses from their page is being criticized because they encouraged all people, all married couples to share their love. Evidently love is heterosexual.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , the Duggars have been defending their choice to save kissing for after marriage . They have also been spreading love with their fans, many of whom are (or were) homosexual. However, that doesn’t mean that everyone should agree with their beliefs.
The Duggars have not released a statement regarding the controversy.
