DuckTales is coming back to a TV channel near you — and it’s bringing a lot of familiar faces along for the ride!
As is the case with nearly all Disney projects, news of the rebooted DuckTales cast was kept pretty “hush-hush” for quite some time. There was speculation and rumors circulating online about which actors and actresses would provide the voices for the series’ iconic characters. However, the cast list was apparently not confirmed until Disney XD released an epic cover of the original series’ theme song on YouTube Friday.
Even though it was very clear that the cast read cue cards throughout the presentation, it was still great to finally be able to match the actors and actresses with the favored and memorable characters they will bring back to the small screen.

The majority of the people featured in the cast have already made waves with their own small-screen careers as TV stars in their own rights:
- David Tennant ( Doctor Who ) as Scrooge McDuck
- Bobby Moynihan ( Saturday Night Live ) as Louie
- Ben Schwartz ( Parks and Recreation ) as Dewey
- Danny Pudi ( Community ) as Huey
- Kate Micucci ( Raising Hope ) as Webby
- Beck Bennett ( Saturday Night Live ) as Launchpad McQuack
- Toks Olagundoye ( The Neighbors ) as Mrs. Beakley
Even though the cast list may be breaking news for Disney and longtime McDuck fans, there have still been quite a few nuggets shared in recent months about the highly-anticipated reboot. According to Entertainment Weekly , the revamped series is still several months away from its small-screen debut on Disney XD.
It is apparently going to be a beautiful mix of the old and the new. Instead of copying the 1987 original series, the new version of DuckTales has a few key tweaks that longtime fans and brand new fans alike will more than likely enjoy. For instance, the main cast is still going to be joined by memorable supporting characters from the original series such as the classic butler/driver Duckworth and the intelligent and slightly mad chicken inventory Gyro Gearloose.

However, the overall look of the show has been giving a big upgrade — especially when you compare the quality of the DuckTales animation overall. Perhaps one of the most favored characters — Launchpad McQuack — also received an upgraded image that is bound to surprise and please viewers.
The first season of the show reportedly consists of two, 1-hour specials and 21 half-hour episodes. Working on the project behind the scenes is a list of people that have played key roles in other successful Disney XD series, including executive producer Matt Youngberg ( Ben 10: Omniverse ), art director Sean Jimenez ( Gravity Falls ), and story editor Francisco Angones ( Wander Over Yonder ).
Perhaps if the DuckTales reboot is a success, Disney XD will consider rebooting more memorable animated series from the ’80s and ’90s that then-kids/now-parents will be able to share with their own children. Back in those days, there were plenty of Saturday morning and weekday afternoon cartoons that kept kids entertained, engaged, and excited.
Tale Spin . Goof Troop . Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers . Darkwing Duck . The list can go on and on. If Scrooge McDuck can return to the small-screen, along with his closest family and friends, the sky is essentially the limit for the vast number of other past series that Disney can tap into for new generations to enjoy.
DuckTales is currently set to premiere on Disney XD in 2017.
