‘DuckTales’ Announcement May Lead To Other Disney Updates

The DuckTales Remastered announcement at PAX East could lead to more Disney remakes.

Earlier today, Capcom announced a remake of the classic NES title, DuckTales . Based on the popular TV show from the 80s, DuckTales the videogame was released among a slew of other titles such as Chip N’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers , Darkwing Duck , and Aladdin . Each was a hit by itself for being a Disney cartoon or movie tie-in, and at PAX East, a remake of DuckTales was given the green light and a trailer.

Everybody’s favorite multi-billionaire bird, Scrooge McDuck, had to use his cane to attack baddies as he hopped around collecting his money. The problem is, players nowadays don’t want to work that hard to beat the game any more, so Capcom had to turn down the difficulty even though the graphics got turned up.

If DuckTales Remastered turns out to be a success, Capcom is considering remakes of their other Disney-based videogames from the 80s. Yup, the newly-re-digitized mallard isn’t the only one getting a makeover if the DuckTales remake is successful. We’ll also get a chance to re-live our favorite moments from the chipmunk hijinks of Chip and Dale, the rodents who originally gave Donald Duck a headache and then went legit with their own detective agency. We may also get another chance to “get dangerous” with the duck in purple, whose clumsiness wasn’t enough to stop him from taking down bad guys.

It won’t take a genie to give Aladdin new life as a videogame hero whose favorite mode of transportation is a flying carpet.

Again, Capcom knows that casual gamers don’t want to miss out on the fun, but if you feel nostalgic for the masochism the original Disney games delivered, you can turn up the difficulty. But if you don’t want to spend hours trying to figure out the patterns to get through it, DuckTales Remastered will include a mix of new features designed to make the game more forgiving than the original . If Scrooge does well, the others may get a makeover as well.

Would you like to see more classic Disney videogames get the HD remake treatment that DuckTales is getting?
