The Robertson clan, of Duck Dynasty fame, are known to be an upstanding family of strong Christian values. That does not mean, however, that they don’t deal with difficulties in life, just like any normal, run-of-the-mill family. Fame alone does not make one happy, and actually comes with its own set of problems. The Duck Dynasty crew turn to God when times are tough, and their faith carries them through.
Jessica Robertson has recently penned a book, slated to be released on the first of April . In The Women of Duck Commander, Jessica speaks of herself, as well as the other ladies of Duck Dynasty. One of the topics she covers is about being aware of bringing baggage into her marriage. Jessica is married to Jep Robertson, the youngest of the Duck Dynasty sons. Jep works as the cameraman and editor in the family business. The couple have four children together, Lily, Merritt, Priscilla and River.
In an interview with Fox411 , Duck Dynasty wife Jessica talks about how she felt when she and Jep were dating.
One of the first things I noticed was how sweet he is and how kind he is to others. Of course when I met his family I realized it ran deep in the roots of the family. I of course fell in love with the family and they welcomed me in their home and they were so forgiving of anything I did in my past as a young girl. The way he treated me, so kind and of course he’s a cutie. I saw so much kindness, gentleness and self control, all these great characteristics that you want in someone.
The Duck Dynasty wife says they “wanted the same things in life.”
We wanted to raise a family to love God and to love others. We communicated a lot about that while we were dating.”
When asked whether or not she felt the Duck Dynasty crew is spreading the Gospel through their show, Jessica’s response was humble and genuine.
I’m not perfect, like I said, I had baggage when I came to the family. Even as a Christian I fail, I’m not perfect, but that’s not what being a Christian’s about. That’s why Jesus paid the price he did because we can’t be perfect, it’s impossible. So I don’t put myself above anybody else and neither does any other Robertson. Phil and Kay are probably the most humble people I’ve ever met. That’s why [ Duck Dynasty ] is so big. I think people love that we laugh together and work together.
In these days where Christianity seems to be under attack, people like the family of Duck Dynasty , who can talk about Jesus without preaching, are greatly needed. They simply live their lives in the faith, and allow us to watch them, and learn through them. In a related article from The Inquisitr , Sadie Robertson speaks about not letting your “fame lose your faith”. This is a practice in which the entire Duck Dynasty family engages.
