On draft day the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will once again turn to General Manger Mark Dominik. This will be the third time Dominik has run the Buccaneers War Room, and so far he has done a pretty good job. At the end of the 2010 season 13 of Dominik’s 15 draft picks were still on the Buccaneers roster. He and Head Coach Raheem Morris have done well working together especially considering that former General Manger Bruce Allen and Coach Jon Gruden had some of the worst draft classes in this team’s history.
On draft day we know that Dominik is unafraid to move around to get the player that he wants. He moved up in 2009 to get QB Josh Freeman and made another move later in that draft to get DL Kyle Moore. Last year he moved up in the second round to nab WR Arrelious Benn. Since Dominick has mid west routes and is a native of Kansas and graduate of Kansas University it is no surprise hat his first two first round draft picks were from Mid West programs. He also tends to draft from BCS schools, and has only used three picks on guys from west coast schools.
Even though this is just his third year as Bucs General Manger, Dominik has held the post of Bucs Director of Pro Personnel in some capacity since 2000, and has been with the team since 1996. Before that he was a scout with the Kansas City Chiefs for a year and half or so.
