Does Kamala Harris Have a Drinking Problem? Experts Reveal What They Noticed In Latest Video

Vice President Kamala Harris appears suspicious in a new video with experts questioning her sobriety. The politician endured a massive loss in the 2024 presidential elections against Republican opposition Donald Trump. While it is understandably a difficult fact to swallow, some think Harris may not be taking the loss well. Experts speculate she might have been under the influence of alcohol while filming the video, per Daily Mail. 

Shot in California and shared on The Democrats’ X handle on November 27, the video marks the 60-year-old politician’s first appearance since her election debacle. “I just have to remind you, don't you ever let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before Nov 5, and you have the same purpose that you did,” Harris said. She seemed bleary-eyed while speaking words that sounded a tad bit slurry. In addition, her exaggerated hand movements also raise concern about the VP being drunk. 

A few experts talked to the Daily Mail shedding light on Harris’ behavior. New York-based Dr. Stuart Fischer, who is an emergency medicine specialist, suggested that Harris’ head movements also seemed suspicious and could possibly indicate alcohol consumption. "She's not royally drunk, but that's definitely the right word [tipsy]," he said, asserting that she would likely not be facing exhaustion from the elections since it's been a while. Dr. Fischer detailed, "She has slightly slurred speech and there was also this head movement, a kind of bobbing movement like you are calmed down by an intoxicant but you still have to give a serious speech."

Likewise, psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman, who has experience working with alcoholics, said she was unable to discern if the politician was completely sober while delivering her speech. Harris' half-closed eyes, rambling, and hand gestures suggested that the politician may have had a drink prior, per the expert. "When you are drunk, you are less inhibited, and that is what we are seeing here," she hypothesized.

That said, body language experts, however, have contrasting opinions. Body language analyst Judi James told the Daily Mail that Harris’ exaggerated behavior could be an effort to present herself as likable to the public. It could also be an attempt to authentically express her honest emotions after the election loss and hope her sentiments echoed with her supporters. "This is a very verbose speech that combines Harris' talent for the word salad with her signature body language rituals that try to persuade you that you are listening to some extremely profound, motivational thoughts and messages," James noted.

Harris, who has served as VP under President Joe Biden since 2021, has battled a storm of alcohol allegations in the past. While the rumors have floated around the internet, none of them have been confirmed or verified. Despite that, she has fallen prey to forced public scrutiny possibly motivated by the political opposition. Trump 2024 political director James Blair fueled the alcohol rumors on social media after a video presented her in a negative light; she was heard speaking slowly at a rally in Atlanta, Georgia in September, per a report by Baseline. 

Even though there’s no evidence about Harris’ alleged alcoholism, many on the internet have lashed out at the politician for representing the nation with such a demeanor. While President-elect Donald Trump is also entangled with a fair share of controversies– sexual assault allegations and the hush-money trial, to name a few– the internet appears invested in Harris’ alleged drinking problem.
