Disney has a lot going for them since Frozen released. The 53rd movie in the Disney Animated Classics line received numerous awards and a hit song, that has been parodied and covered extensively while catapulting Idina Menzel’s singing career outside of Broadway. However, the latest honor was recently announced: Disney’s Frozen is now the 13th highest grossing film ever.

What does this mean in the box office? To understand how monumental this achievement is, it should be noted that at the inception of becoming the 13th highest grossing film, Disney’s Frozen made $1.032 billion at the box office. True the number is nothing compared to our national debt, but it is an accomplishment when it comes to ticket sales. Just to get to the 13th position, Disney’s Frozen had to outsell The Dark Knight at $1.004 billion, Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace at $1.027 billion, and Jurassic Park at $1.029 billion, according to an article on IGN . Now Disney’s Frozen is #12!

Also, the fact Disney’s Frozen reached a billion in box office sales is monumental too. Disney’s Frozen is the first Disney Animated Classic to break the billion threshold . No other film in the series, which includes such greats as The Little Mermaid , Beauty & The Beast , Tangled , Wreck-It Ralph , and The Lion King , has ever passed that financial profit ceiling as reported previously on The Inquisit r . Disney’s Frozen is also the seventh film, by Disney, to reach the billion mark in box office sales.

Right now, the blu-ray and DVD for the hit Disney classic is available, and it is selling very well. However, in some countries, the Disney hit is still in theaters which may give it the chance to break the top ten. If Disney’s Frozen wants to at least get the #10 spot, it needs to surpass $1.066 billion, knocking down another Disney film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest .
